We are seeking an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solutions Architect to define, design, and govern the technical architecture for all enterprise AI/Machine Learning (ML) systems and Machine Learning Operatons (MLOps) infrastructure. Primary duties include leading the architectural design, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across the entire AI ecosystem, from data ingestion and model training to deployment in production and classified environments. Additional duties may include providing expert consultation on cloud architecture, governance, security hardening Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps), and technology selection to the AI Lead and development teams. Core Responsibilities and Duties Define and maintain the target state architecture and technical blueprints for the organization's MLOps platform and AI solution delivery across various security domains. Design system architectures for specific high-value AI use cases, focusing on model serving, efficient inference, and integration with existing enterprise systems. Evaluate, select, and govern the core AI/ML technology stack components, including feature stores, model registries, and dedicated training infrastructure. Ensure all AI architectures meet strict security, auditing, and compliance requirements (e.g., secure data handling, access controls, lineage tracking). Create and maintain detailed, high-quality architecture documentation, including conceptual, logical, and physical diagrams and technical standards. Other Responsibilities and Duties Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team to align data governance and infrastructure standards with AI requirements. Provide technical governance and architectural mentorship to AI Software Engineers and Data Scientists, ensuring adherence to design patterns. Participate in the internal Architecture Review Board to present and gain approval for new AI infrastructure designs and deployment patterns. Research emerging AI technologies, including advanced Generative AI frameworks and specialized hardware, assessing their applicability to mission needs. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical engineering/science experience ranging from 3 to 7 years. OR Master's degree. OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 10 years of completed education and/or relevant experience. Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2A Requirements Not applicable Preferred Job Requirements 2 years of progressive experience in Information Technology (IT) architecture, software engineering, or MLOps engineering. 2 years of dedicated experience designing and implementing large-scale cloud-based or secure on-premise AI/ML production systems. Proficiency in DevSecOps principles, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern Application Programming Interface (API) design. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required. Advanced degree or relevant Solutions Architect certification (e.g., Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud). Expertise in DevSecops principles, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern API design. 8+ years of experience, including experience defining model governance and lineage frameworks. Demonstrated experience with specialized hardware Graphics Processing Unit and High Performance Computing (GPU/HPC) infrastructure design for deep learning or large language models. Active or previous Department of Energy Q clearance. #

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 709. Medical requirements may apply.
