At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you! Job Description The Staff Scientist will support proteomics and bioinformatics workflows within the Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics Facility. This role is responsible for executing advanced proteomics experiments, maintaining instrumentation, and partnering with researchers to design and implement high impact studies. The position requires strong technical expertise, hands on laboratory experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and facility users. Key Responsibilities Execute proteomics experiments using bottom up workflows, including sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced instrumentation, including liquid chromatography systems and mass spectrometers Perform analyses using platforms such as Thermo Q-Exactive HF, Bruker timsTOF Pro, Sciex 6500/7600, and
MALDI-TOF
systems Support intact protein mass measurements and peptide mass mapping experiments Partner with Principal Investigators and researchers to design and implement proteomics studies Provide consultation on experimental design, data interpretation, and bioinformatics workflows Train and support facility users on proteomics techniques and instrumentation Contribute to proposal development for new instrumentation and facility enhancements Ensure proper documentation, data management, and adherence to laboratory best practices Qualifications Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field 1 to 2 years of relevant postdoctoral or professional experience Demonstrated expertise in proteomics sample preparation, data acquisition, and data processing Strong knowledge of proteomics, bioinformatics, and separation technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with nano UHPLC systems (Waters M-Class, EvoSep, Bruker nanoElute or similar) Hands-on experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry platforms Familiarity with
MALDI-TOF
