The role requires strong knowledge of BI/reporting tools, data governance practices, and higher education reporting requirements, as well as the ability to translate business needs into practical data and reporting solutions. The position analyzes institutional data and interprets results to support strategic decision-making and planning across the institution. The position supports institutional leadership by providing data analysis and reporting used in strategic planning, enrollment management, and institutional effectiveness initiatives. Responsibilities 1
  • Develops and maintains enterprise analytics solutions to support institutional decision-making, including enrollment modeling and forecasting, retention modeling, and outcomes analysis using statistical methods. Interprets analytical results and communicates findings to support institutional planning and strategy. 2
  • Designs, develops, tests, schedules, and supports standardized and ad hoc operational and analytical reports using the Argos Enterprise Reporting System and related business intelligence tools. 3
  • Administers and supports the reporting lifecycle for mandatory federal (e.g., IPEDS) and state/USG data collections, ensuring secure, timely, and accurate data delivery; serves as the institution¿s IPEDS key holder and a technical resource for USG data collections. 4
  • Integrates, validates, and reconciles data from campus source systems and the USG Enterprise Data Management Analytics environment to deliver consistent, trusted datasets for reporting, dashboards, and system-level data collections. 5
  • Designs, maintains, and documents data logic (business rules, data definitions, mapping, and transformation specifications) used across Argos/BI outputs in alignment with USG standards and institutional data governance policies (including data quality, definitions, security, and stewardship). 6
  • Documents technical and business workflows for data collection, reporting, and compliance; recommends and implements process and system enhancements to improve efficiency, standardization, and data quality. 7
  • Produces technical documentation, user guides, and training to support the adoption of reporting tools, improve customer service, and ensure users can access and use data responsibly and effectively. 8
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field (e.g., Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Statistics, Social Science, Business, or related discipline). Required Experience At least three years of related experience in institutional research, business systems analysis, data analytics, business intelligence/reporting, or a closely related field. Experience with a statistical package (e.g., SPSS, R, or similar) and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience working with business intelligence and/or reporting tools (e.g., Argos, Cognos, Power BI, Tableau) to develop and maintain reports and dashboards. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications Master¿s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Preferred Experience At least four years of experience with higher education data and reporting/analytics. At least four years of research/analytics experience demonstrating the ability to conduct complex analyses and translate results into actionable recommendations. Experience developing interactive dashboards and self-service reporting solutions. Experience working with data warehouses, Enterprise Data Management Analytics (EDMA) or similar enterprise data environments, and system-level reporting. Experience with Ellucian Banner. ABILITIES
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and consistency, including recurring reporting cycles and ad hoc requests. ¿ Ability to handle confidential and sensitive data ethically and professionally in compliance with institutional and USG policies. Ability to translate business needs into system, data, and reporting requirements, and to design practical, user-focused BI solutions. Ability to analyze and interpret complex institutional data and communicate results to support institutional planning, strategy, and decision-making.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of business intelligence and reporting tools (e.g., Argos and comparable platforms) and how to design and support decision-support reporting. Knowledge of data warehouse concepts (schemas, data marts) and how those concepts apply to enterprise reporting environments. Knowledge of business processes for higher education data collection, compliance reporting, and planning, and how those processes interface with enterprise systems. Knowledge of data governance principles and practices, including data quality, definitions, security, stewardship, and standardization in support of USG and institutional requirements. Knowledge of customer service techniques and effective support practices for technical and non-technical users. SKILLS Skill in using job-related software and tools, including BI/reporting platforms and statistical tools. Skill in problem-solving and decision-making in a data-rich environment, including investigation and root-cause analysis. Skill in interpersonal communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Skill in oral and written communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts and analytical findings to non-technical audiences.
