10+ years Position Summary Our client, a premier public research university and leading healthcare network based in San Francisco, is seeking a Senior Oracle Cloud Financials Functional Consultant. In this role, you will serve as a core subject matter expert for our enterprise ERP platform, acting as the primary liaison between institutional finance stakeholders and IT technical teams. You will optimize, configure, and support Oracle Fusion Financials to streamline complex institutional accounting, ensure compliance with public sector policies, and support an organization dedicated to advancing global health and education. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise across core Oracle Cloud Finance modules, a thorough understanding of Fund Accounting and Grants Management, and the communication skills necessary to guide business processes in a world-class academic medical center. Key Responsibilities Functional Configuration & System Optimization Lead the end-to-end functional support, configuration, and optimization of Oracle Cloud Financials modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, Cash Management, and Expenses). Configure business processes, workflow approvals (BPM), and financial reporting structures aligned with institutional operational workflows and compliance requirements. Author and maintain high-quality functional design documents (FDDs), Configuration Workbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Business Process Partnership Act as the strategic partner to campus and healthcare financial teams, capturing complex business requirements and translating them into scalable Oracle Cloud solutions. Align system configurations with Higher Education and Public Sector accounting frameworks, focusing heavily on Fund Accounting, PPM (Project Portfolio Management), and Grants Management. Support the business through successful month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close execution and reconciliations. Release Management & Testing Manage the review, impact assessment, and testing of Oracle Cloud quarterly upgrades and patches. Coordinate business validation, manage regression testing execution, and identify potential issues or feature enhancements before deployment into production. Troubleshoot functional issues spanning data interfaces/imports (FBDI), third-party integrations (e.g., banking portals, procurement tools), and data conversions. Required Technical Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a closely related field. 7+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Financials Functional Consultant, with at least 3+ years specifically in Oracle Cloud Fusion ERP. Proven track record of participating in full lifecycle enterprise ERP implementations or major optimization projects. Core Module Competencies Deep functional configuration expertise in: General Ledger (GL) & Chart of Accounts (COA) mapping Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR) Fixed Assets (FA) & Cash Management (CM) Project Portfolio Management (PPM) / Project Costing (strongly preferred for tracking research grants) Institutional & Soft Skills Strong understanding of US GAAP, public sector compliance, fund accounting, and internal financial controls. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to trace ledger discrepancies back to functional system configuration root causes. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to easily communicate technical concepts to non-technical financial executives. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience implementing or supporting Oracle ERP within a Higher Education institution or a major Healthcare/Hospital network. Familiarity with cross-functional upstream/downstream module integrations, such as Oracle Cloud HCM/Payroll (enterprise integration frameworks) and Supply Chain/Procurement.
