Essential Functions
  • Supports application software for all Departments, including Finance, Human Resources and Procurement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application access, performance, and system setup problems
  • Work with vendor technical support staff as necessary
  • Works with users in resolving user/application issues, or to enhance user services. Performs application administration, including user security and program configuration setups and maintenance.
  • Develop operational and maintenance processes, schedules, and documentation for applications
  • Create and support required reports, extracts, and interfaces in response to business user needs
  • Documents issues and resolutions and creates knowledge base articles as needed.
  • Executes application installations, configurations, upgrades, patches and required infrastructure (operation system environment, program and user security, network capacity and throughput, database backups) for applications and associated processes.
  • Develop testing plans and perform testing on application
  • Trains users in software application packages, both commercial and specially designed.
  • Oversees and participates in pre-user testing of applications.
  • Provide infrastructure support for application testing
  • Participate in internal and external auditing reviews
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning; administer database backup and recovery processes
  • Respond to and report immediately if called upon by local regional or central office supervisors as part of a coordinated emergency response by the Knox County Mayor's Office
  • Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours
  • Perform other IT Department duties as required Minimum Training & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field and minimum of five (5) years' related experience.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
This position may require you to obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification throughout your employment with Knox County IT. This includes, but is not limited to, a favorable background check completed and approved by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, successful completion of security awareness training, and a signed TBI Release of Information Form Acknowledgment within the first six months of hire and biennially thereafter.   • Ability to use office equipment including multi-line phone; photocopier; calculator; and fax machine Ability to use computers (computer workstation, desktop and laptop computers) and peripheral equipment including printer and scanner Physical Requirements -This position requires the following physical abilities:
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and materials of up to fifty pounds and to sit and view a computer monitor for extended periods of time.

$87,000.00 - $102,000.00 per year
