Job Description

Description Are you passionate about using data to shape how millions of customers experience grocery shopping? Join our Grocery Retail Business Intelligence team as we build the analytics foundation powering Category Management and Merchandising Operations for Amazon's grocery business. We're seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to support the teams that make pricing, promotions, selection, assortment, and reset decisions across Amazon's grocery banners. You'll design scalable data solutions, deliver actionable insights, and build AI-powered tools that help merchandising stakeholders access data and make faster, better decisions.
What makes this role exciting:
  • Strategic breadth: Support multiple merchandising functions, giving you visibility into how grocery retail decisions come together end-to-end
  • AI innovation: Build and deploy AI-powered analytics tools that transform how stakeholders interact with data and get their analytical questions answered
  • Complex problem-solving: Tackle ambiguous challenges born from the rapid growth and evolution of Amazon's grocery business
  • Cross-functional influence: Partner with Finance, Tech, and Retail teams to establish data-driven decision frameworks
  • Technical depth: Design ETL pipelines, build automated reporting, create self-service dashboards, and develop data models using AWS technologies (Redshift, Athena, QuickSight, S3) Key job responsibilities
  • Design and implement automated ETL pipelines, data models, and reporting solutions that transform raw data into actionable insights for grocery retail stakeholders
  • Build self-service dashboards and analytics tools that enable business teams to monitor performance and make data-driven decisions independently
  • Develop AI-powered solutions that improve stakeholder access to data and accelerate time-to-insight
  • Write high-quality SQL to retrieve and analyze complex datasets, understanding which data sources to use and how to join them reliably
  • Deliver insights that go beyond "what happened" to explain "why" and recommend "what to do next"
  • Partner cross-functionally to translate ambiguous business requirements into technical solutions
  • Implement data quality monitoring and documentation practices that maintain trust in analytics outputs A day in the life You'll split your time between building scalable analytics infrastructure and partnering directly with stakeholders to answer their most pressing questions.
Some days you're deep in code building pipelines or prototyping an AI tool; others you're presenting findings to leadership or whiteboarding a measurement framework with cross-functional partners. You'll balance planned projects with urgent requests, supporting the emergent needs of the business along with contributing to the long-term data vision.
