THE OPPORTUNITY
Altaris is a healthcare-dedicated private equity firm managing ~$9B in equity capital across an active portfolio of 11 companies. The Portfolio Engagement team is based in Minneapolis and serves as the operational backbone of the firm, managing internal tooling, partnering with portfolio company management teams, and driving operational execution across the portfolio. This role serves as the firm's dedicated Salesforce administrator and functional architect managing Altaris' internal Sales Cloud and Experience Cloud applications. Beyond the firm's own systems, the role will influence Salesforce and related initiatives across the firm as well as portfolio companies. SUMMARY This role is the firm's dedicated Salesforce system administrator with the developer experience to grow the platforms that run Altaris' deal flow, portfolio operations, and external stakeholder engagement. The work spans the full development lifecycle managing architecture, custom development, administration, and deployment across the firm's internal Sales Cloud instance and its Experience Cloud portal for portfolio company executives and board members. It also extends to turning the firm's deal, portfolio, and financial data into reporting, building the dashboards, reports, and recurring outputs that leadership, deal teams, and portfolio companies rely on to make decisions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Salesforce system administrator with developer experience who is equally comfortable with data, experienced across both Sales Cloud and Experience Cloud, fluent in data modeling and reporting, and able to work with financial and operational datasets to deliver solutions that hold up at scale. Above all, the role calls for someone who can gather business requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into clean technical solutions, operating comfortably as administrator, developer, architect, and trainer. This individual operates with high autonomy, earns trust through substance and follow-through, and thrives in an environment where no two projects are the same.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, and maintain custom Apex, Lightning Web Components, and triggers across the firm's portfolio reporting and operational objects. Own the data model for new use cases, designing custom objects and relationships that hold up at scale.
- Extend the firm's Experience Cloud portal for portfolio company executives and board members (including authentication, page layouts, sharing rules, and custom components) so external stakeholders have secure, role-appropriate access to the information they need.
- Own the CI/CD pipeline for the firm's Salesforce environment, covering sandbox strategy, version control, and deployment automation, and establish the release practices that keep changes safe, tested, and traceable.
- Maintain integrations between Salesforce and the firm's broader technology stack, including document management (Egnyte), Microsoft 365, workflow automation, and the firm's data platform (Microsoft Fabric).
- Design data models for new reporting use cases and ensure Salesforce and Experience Cloud data flows cleanly into the firm's analytics environment.
- Support the firm's recurring reporting and board governance workflows that depend on Salesforce data, ensuring the underlying objects and automations produce accurate, decision-ready information.
- Handle day-to-day administration and configuration, covering the security and sharing model, user and permission management, page layouts, and declarative automation (Flows), and maintain data integrity, quality, and documentation across the platform.
- Monitor platform health and stay current with Salesforce releases by assessing new functionality, planning for upcoming changes, and proposing enhancements, and provide hands-on support and training to internal users as the firm's dedicated Salesforce resource, working alongside a product owner and others across the firm who are familiar with the platform.
- All Portfolio Engagement roles work cross-functionally.
Beyond the core Salesforce and data mandate, you may occasionally lead a discrete operational or analytics project where your skills are the best fit, scoped deliberately rather than as open-ended overflow.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements from non-technical stakeholders (deal teams, portfolio company operators, and finance) into clean, maintainable technical solutions, and to operate independently across competing priorities
- Strong data modeling and reporting skills, able to design custom objects and relationships that hold up at scale, and comfortable working with financial and operational data across SQL, Python, or Excel to build and validate reporting datasets
- Proficiency with Apex and Lightning Web Components, including governor limits, bulkification, and asynchronous processing.
- 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce experience spanning development and administration; this is a hands-on build-and-run seat, not a pure administrator role
- A four-year college degree from an accredited institution
- Salesforce Admin certification, or the demonstrated equivalent in hands-on experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Comfort working on small teams where the Salesforce architect is also the administrator, the business analyst, and at times the trainer
- Experience with version control and Salesforce deployment workflows, including Git, Azure DevOps, SFDX, and deployment tooling.
- Experience with data platform work outside Salesforce, including SQL, Python, modern data warehouses & visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake), and ETL tooling
- Familiarity with the broader enterprise stack this role integrates with (Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, Power Automate, and Microsoft Fabric)
- Working familiarity with financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) sufficient to load, map, and validate portfolio company financial data accurately each month.
- Financial services, private equity, or technology background, or clear demonstrated interest in portfolio operations.
