Job Description
The MD of Operational Resilience and Global Security ensures that CME Group's critical market functions—trade execution, clearing, and settlement—remain robust against severe disruptions. You will lead the enterprise strategy to prevent, adapt to, and recover from operational threats while ensuring global regulatory compliance. This role serves as the primary bridge between technical and cybersecurity recovery, physical security, and executive governance. Principal Accountabilities Strategy Governance •
Program Leadership:
Direct the 24/7 Global Business Continuity (BCM) and Security programs, aligning them with industry best practices and global regulatory requirements. •
Executive Liaison:
Represent resilience and security programs to the Board's Risk Committee, senior leadership, and global regulators; manage all regulatory exams and remediation plans. •
Strategic Integration:
Align resilience programs with CME's growth, including new business lines, legal entities, and cloud/data center migrations. Crisis & Incident Management •
Crisis Command:
Act as a key decision-maker during live incidents, leading the enterprise-wide Crisis Analysis and Response framework. Ensure alignment and coordination with Global Information Security (GIS) and the Corporate Incident Response Plan. •
Testing and Simulation:
Design and execute complex crisis exercises, including cyber-attack simulations, data integrity failures, and physical infrastructure outages. •
External Partnerships:
Maintain high-level relationships with law enforcement and financial sector bodies (e.g., FBI, DHS, FS-ISAC, SIFMA). Global Security Operations •
Critical Infrastructure:
Oversee the Global Security Command Center, threat intelligence, and protection for high-risk assets (Trading Floor, Data Centers, and colocation sites). Enhance threat awareness and protection through deep collaboration with Cyber Resiliency and Cyber Defense teams. •
Personnel Safety:
Manage executive protection, global secure travel, life safety protocols (drills/credentialing), and the background investigation adjudication process. •
Investigations:
Lead sensitive corporate investigationsin partnership with Legal, HR, and GIS. Risk & Resilience •
Technical Resilience:
Partner with Technology teams to ensure 24/7 uptime across on-prem, colocation, and cloud environments. •
Cyber Resilience:
Partner with Cyber Resiliency and Cyber Defense teams to ensure cross-domain communication and coordination with GIS, including the functions that are responsible for monitoring and incident response for business- critical systems. •
Third-Party Risk:
Define and manage the vendor risk management framework for security and resilience in coordination with the Third-Party Risk Management team. Qualifications & Experience •
Experience:
15+ years of progressive leadership in Operational Resilience and BCM within complex financial environments. •
Industry Knowledge:
Deep understanding of trade lifecycles, clearing workflows, and low-latency infrastructure. •
Crisis Leadership:
Proven track record of managing major operational disruptions and establishing high-stakes decision- making protocols. •
Regulatory Gravitas:
Extensive experience managing regulatory examinations and presenting to Board-level committees. •
Strategic Mindset:
Ability to integrate security and resilience into technology transformations (Cloud/Data Center strategy) •
Education:
MBA or advanced degree preferred. The pay range for this role is $261,800-$436,300. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
