- WSP is currently initiating a search for a
- Technical Director
- to lead an established bridge inspection department in the MAN District.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for the MAN district Bridge Inspection TEC, overseeing State TEC Leads, Project Managers, Quality Control Engineers and Bridge Inspection Teams. They will assist the Regional and Local Business Leaders as a Subject Matter Expert for bridge inspection, ensuring technical excellence and evaluating innovative methods for this work. This role is responsible for supporting the Regional and Local Business Mangers in operations, client engagement, and project financial performance. They will ensure that WSP's Bridge Inspection practice is aligned with FHWA and local client Bridge Inspection requirements. They will ensure alignment with the objectives and standards of WSP's National Business Line for Bridge Inspection, maintaining standards for safety, quality, consistency, and profitability. The position serves as a trusted technical advisor to Senior Technical Directors and Regional/Local Business Leaders, playing a key role in shaping the MAN District's Bridge Inspection Practice.

- Technical Leadership & Strategy
- + Develop and execute district‑level technical strategies aligned with the National Bridge Inspection Business Line objectives and overall organizational goals.
+ Serve as a key member of the leadership team, driving technical innovations and contributing to long‑term planning of the Bridge Inspection TEC. + Provide insight and guidance to senior and executive leadership on Bridge Inspection market trends, growth opportunities, organizational risk, and resource needs.
- Business Ownership & Financial Accountability
- + Provide oversight of bridge inspection project financials including tracking revenue, backlog, utilization, margin, and forecast accuracy.
+ Support the Local Business Leader (LBL)for district‑level KPIs, ensuring the Bridge Inspection Team's performance aligns with approved business plans. + Consult with the LBL to ensure that the Team's financial decisions are made with a clear understanding of their impact on overall business performance. + Lead corrective actions when financial or operational performance deviates from plan.
- Client Leadership & Market Presence
- + Serve as the Bridge Inspection sponsor for key DOT and transportation agency clients across the MAN District.
+ Maintain and expand client relationships through technical excellence and innovation, Making WSP the client's preferred provider. + Represent WSP externally as a trusted technical advisor and Subject Matter Expert in bridge inspection services. + Integrate technical capabilities and business opportunities to strengthen WSP's market position and long‑term client partnerships.
- People Leadership, Talent & Succession
- + Provide leadership and oversight to State Bridge Inspection TEC Managers, ensuring accountability, performance excellence, and alignment with strategic objectives.
+ Lead district workforce planning, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, leadership depth, and technical capability to support current and future programs. + Develop and maintain a confidential leadership succession plan for the district. + Foster an inclusive, high‑performance culture that values collaboration, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
- Collaboration & Enterprise Integration
- + Ensure strong coordination between district operations and national business line leadership, as well as other WSP market sectors. + Promote consistent implementation of enterprise initiatives, policies, and best practices across the district. + Support cross‑regional collaboration and resource sharing to advance national Bridge Inspection priorities.
- Who You Are
- Required Qualifications
- + Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license required; multi‑state licensure preferred. + 12+ years of progressive professional experience, including leadership of large, complex organizations, programs, or business units. + Demonstrated success in district or local business leadership, including financial and operational accountability. + Extensive knowledge of business operations, financial management, and organizational leadership. + Proven ability to influence and advise senior and executive leadership. + Strong executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to travel within the Mid‑Atlantic region as required.

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $1167,600-$285,300 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
