Job Description

Assistive Technology Technician Full Time Wage:
$24.00/hr. The Assistive Technology (AT) Technician is responsible for researching, identifying, securing, and implementing assistive technologies that help individuals increase their independence. This role provides coaching and training to people supported and their teams to ensure successful implementation, while also contributing to development efforts and strategic planning for assistive technology across the organization.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (relevant experience may substitute) Minimum of two years of experience teaching or supporting individuals with developmental disabilities Valid driver's license with insurable driving record Must pass a qualifying criminal background check and drug screening Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of modern technology tools CPR certification, renewed biannually Flexible work schedule required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and transport assistive technology devices and materials Frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting Ability to use standard office and technology tools for prolonged periods
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate skill in implementing assistive technology to support independent living and community participation. 2. Provide technology-based solutions to team members addressing specific support needs. 3. Complete timely documentation, including Technology Referral Requests. 4. Conduct technology-related research and contribute to product development. 5. Provide individualized coaching and training for successful technology implementation. 6. Develop and apply effective fading plans to promote independent use of technology. 7. Train staff to ensure competence with technology tools used by people they support. 8. Manage appointments and commitments with strong follow-through. 9. Create and adapt custom technologies tailored to individual needs. 10. Ensure implementation aligns with the organization's mission, values, person-centered practices, and regulatory requirements. 11. Actively participate in the Assistive Technology Committee. 12. Serve as a course instructor and conference presenter. 13. Support the ongoing development and refinement of the AT Strategic Plan. 14. Maintain excellent communication with people supported, their families, staff, and community partners.
