Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate. ________________________________________________________________________ The Deputy Chief Information Officer (Deputy CIO) serves as a senior operational leader within the Office of Innovative Technology Solutions, responsible for delivering high-quality, student-centered technology services across the university. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role leads the ongoing advancement of core service areas including academic technology, client services and endpoint management, and the IT service desk. Building on a strong operational foundation, the Deputy CIO ensures these services continue to evolve to meet the expectations of a modern, student-focused institution. The role emphasizes service experience, reliability, and consistency while identifying opportunities to enhance how technology supports teaching, learning, and the broader campus experience. The Deputy CIO works closely with academic and administrative partners to understand needs, align services, and ensure effective delivery. This includes regular engagement with deans, department leaders, and key stakeholders to advance faculty enablement, support student success, and improve the digital experience across the institution. The role also leverages vendors and strategic partners to extend capabilities and deliver scalable, sustainable solutions. In collaboration with the CIO and IT leadership team, the Deputy CIO contributes to the execution of the IT strategic plan and ensures that services, resources, and priorities remain aligned with institutional goals. The Deputy CIO represents the office in leadership settings as needed and helps maintain a consistent, trusted presence across the university. The Information Technology Services office is located at the Stephenville Campus. Work hours are Monday to Friday; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position is open for consideration for remote and office work options after the successful completion of the training period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and continuously improve service delivery across academic technology, client services/endpoint management, and the IT service desk Advance a student-centered, experience-driven approach to IT services, with particular emphasis on modernizing and differentiating the service desk Partner with academic leadership to support faculty enablement, teaching and learning environments, and the overall digital experience for students Ensure reliable, consistent, and scalable delivery of technology services, with a focus on service quality, responsiveness, and operational excellence Align service priorities and initiatives with the IT strategic plan and institutional objectives Lead, develop, and support teams responsible for service delivery, fostering accountability, growth, and a strong customer-focused culture Manage relationships with vendors and strategic partners to deliver effective and cost-efficient solutions Oversee planning and execution of initiatives within assigned areas, ensuring alignment with timelines, resources, and expected outcomes Represent the IT organization in meetings and engagements with campus stakeholders as appropriate Minimum Qualifications Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience 10 years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of complex and mixed technology environments. Knowledge in IT management, leadership, and IT solution delivery. Knowledge of database solutions, cloud IT services, web applications, internet technologies, business intelligence, and marketing. Strong organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills Skills in strategic thinking, research, and planning to include: creativity/innovation, risk management, strategic disaster recovery & business continuity, integrating solutions, leveraging, strategic resources, and strategic partnering. Strategic industry-related skills to include, knowledge of current and emerging IT industry issues and trends. Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system Supervision Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for independent decision‑making.

Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $135,000-$150,000 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
