Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented NC Programmer specializing in sheet metal fabrication to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The Sheet Metal NC Programmer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and supporting accurate and efficient CNC programs for Mazak laser and Amada press brake equipment to ensure uninterrupted fabrication throughput, product quality, and revision-controlled production readiness. This role supports daily production requirements through CNC programming, setup support, troubleshooting, process improvement, and hands-on production activities as required to support customer demand and operational bottlenecks. Duties The Sheet Metal NC Programmer supports the daily operational needs of the fabrication department by creating, organizing, maintaining, and improving NC programs for Mazak laser and Amada press brake equipment utilizing RADAN and Amada VPSS software. The role is responsible for ensuring fabrication programs are accurate, revision-controlled, production-ready, and available in advance of scheduled manufacturing demand to minimize downtime and maintain department throughput. This position works closely with fabrication operators, supervisors, quality personnel, and other internal departments to support efficient and repeatable production. Responsibilities include creating new programs from released drawings, modifying existing programs for engineering revisions or quality improvements, troubleshooting production concerns, and supporting operators with live program adjustments when required. The Sheet Metal NC Programmer is expected to maintain organized program files, setup notes, operator instructions, bend programs, nesting layouts, and related production documentation necessary to support efficient fabrication operations. The role requires strong blueprint interpretation skills and a practical understanding of fabrication processes including material grain direction, bend allowance and deduction, springback, tooling considerations, nesting efficiency, and factors that influence part quality and production throughput. While this is not a formal supervisory position, the role is expected to support cross-training and technical guidance within the fabrication department as part of normal daily operations. In addition to programming responsibilities, this role is expected to support hands-on production activities throughout the fabrication department and other operational areas as customer demand, production schedules, or shop bottlenecks require. All employees are expected to support overall company throughput and operational flexibility as part of Metalcraft Industries' team-oriented manufacturing environment. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on operational requirements, production demands, continuous improvement initiatives, or evolving business needs.
Core Accountabilites:
-Owns that all Mazak laser and Amada press brake programs are accurate, revision-controlled, production-ready, and released ahead of scheduled production demand.
  • Maintain uninterrupted fabrication department throughput by preventing machine downtime caused by missing, incorrect, or inefficient NC programs.
  • Create, modify, and improve laser nests, bend programs, setup instructions, and process documentation to support safe, repeatable, and quality production.
  • Support fabrication operators and supervisors with immediate troubleshooting and live program adjustments to resolve quality or production concerns.
  • Maintain material utilization and process efficiency equal to or better than quoted routing and estimating assumptions whenever practical.
  • Ensure second shift fabrication operations have all required production programs, revisions, and backup program options available prior to shift start.
  • Owns strict revision control and program organization to ensure compliance with current released drawings and QA-controlled document revisions.
  • Support continuous improvement of fabrication processes through programming optimization, setup simplification, operator usability improvements, and reduction of unnecessary machine downtime.
  • Cross-train and support fabrication personnel through day-to-day technical guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support overall shop throughput by assisting with hands-on production activities throughout the facility department and other work centers as customer demand and bottlenecks require.
Pay:
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
