Full-Time Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Laser Programmer to join our fabrication team. This role is responsible for creating efficient, production-ready programs for laser cutting operations, optimizing material usage, and supporting overall shop productivity. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, understands nesting strategies, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Program CNC laser cutting machines using industry-standard software (e.g., BySoft, SigmaNEST, TruTops, or similar) Create optimized nests to maximize material yield and minimize scrap Interpret blueprints, CAD files, and work orders to ensure accurate part production Collaborate with engineering, production, and shop floor personnel to improve workflows Adjust programs based on machine capabilities, material types, and thicknesses Maintain organized program files and documentation for repeat jobs Troubleshoot programming or cutting issues and implement corrective actions Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, quality, and throughput

Qualifications:

2+ years of experience programming CNC laser machines in a sheet metal environment Proficiency with nesting/software programming tools (e.g.,BySoft, SigmaNEST, TruTops, etc.) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and materials High attention to detail and problem-solving skills Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is a plus

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume environment Knowledge of secondary operations (bending, welding, finishing) Lean manufacturing or process optimization experience
