Job Description

Enterprise Systems Programmer St. Joseph's University, New York The Enterprise Systems Programmer provides programming, reporting, and technical support for the University's administrative systems, primarily the Ellucian Colleague SIS and Google Workspace. This role serves as the primary developer for system integrations and process automation, working collaboratively to design and support custom applications and business processes. We are looking for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys building automated workflows and using APIs to replace manual tasks. While experience with Ellucian Colleague is preferred, we value candidates with strong fundamental programming skills and a desire to learn. You will work closely with faculty and staff to assess needs and implement technical solutions that support daily operations and the University's strategic initiatives. Responsibilities Build and manage API-based integrations and automation scripts to connect the Ellucian Colleague ERP with third-party platforms like Slate and Canvas, streamlining data flow and ensuring secure, real-time synchronization. Develop and support automated scripts for Google Workspace and Active Directory, including group membership management and access provisioning. Perform full-lifecycle software development using SQL, modern scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript), and enterprise platforms like Colleague Studio. Implement version control and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures to ensure system maintainability and business continuity. Provide day-to-day administration and technical support for core systems; investigate and resolve production issues, script errors, and system bottlenecks. Collaborate with faculty and staff to translate business needs into technical solutions, providing recommendations to improve system efficiency and support University initiatives. Collaborate within Agile teams to develop solutions following the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), ensuring continuous integration and delivery for rapid Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Education Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, or a related field.. 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in application development, systems analysis, and enterprise system support. Proven experience consuming and managing APIs to integrate disparate enterprise systems. Strong proficiency in at least one major scripting language (Python or PowerShell preferred) for the purpose of automating manual business processes and data synchronization. Demonstrated experience gathering requirements, preparing specifications, developing and testing application code. Ability to perform deep root systems analysis to troubleshoot integration failures or data discrepancies between platforms. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while contributing to team-based projects.
Preferred:
Experience with a Student Information System (SIS), preferably Ellucian Colleague. Experience working in a development environment for a SIS, preferably Colleague Studio. Familiarity with Higher Ed platforms such as Canvas (LMS), Slate (CRM), and Perceptive Content. Experience using Git for version control of custom scripts and application code.
Salary Range:
