Job Description

Roechling Medical Rochester offers customers a wide range of high-quality, customized components and assemblies, right through to end-to-end OEM products. The product portfolio also includes standard plastic products, with special expertise in the fields of diagnostics, fluid management, pharma, surgery and interventional, and much more. These areas of competence are complemented by an enhanced range of services for development and regulatory affairs, right through to approval of end-to-end medical products. Overview We are seeking a passionate and skilled OGP Programmer to join our dynamic team for a long term project. In this temporary role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining optical inspection programs using advanced software tools. Your expertise will ensure the highest standards of quality control for our medical products through precise programming and troubleshooting.
Job Summary:
A OGP Programmer should have at a minimum 3 years of experience doing metrology work and programming OGP vision system equipment. At this level it is expected that a project can be handled from start to finish without higher level review. OGP programs will be written based on drawing and inspection requirements. Programs will be tested and validated for accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Print Reading
  • Print reading and interpretation skills should be at a high level, with a very strong understanding of GD&T callouts and datum structures. A OGP Programmer's knowledge of print reading and GD&T should be one of the very highest levels within the company as a whole. Bench Measurements
  • Metrologists should be able to use bench equipment with high proficiency and to supplement or verify data from CMM or Vision System measurements. A Metrologist's experience can allow for the decision to override a CMM or Vision System measurement with a Bench check if it is deemed to be more appropriate for the feature (dimension) being evaluated. Vision System
  • Formal training and/or experience in programming a Vision System, especially Zone 3, should allow the OGP Programmer to be able to program an accurate and repeatable routine.
Creation of fully automated routines that others can execute accurately and without issues is required. An intermediate level of knowledge of how plastic injection molded parts can vary from perfect CAD and how tooling features may interact with part features will allow a Metrologist to program plastic parts more accurately (avoiding sink, parting lines and ejector pins for example). In addition, some statistical knowledge is required for assessing data for program validation. Statistical analysis in the Metrology Lab is done through (but not limited to) Excel in the Capability Form and some basic MiniTab analysis for Gage R&R review. Communication
  • A OGP Programmer should be able to effectively communicate visual and dimensional findings on parts back to the internal team and at times supply additional information for the Tooling Engineer for assisting in corrections. Validation
  • Writing and executing OGP program validations is required. The validation will prove program repeatability and reproducibility. Fixture Design
