As a HMI development and design engineer for the GBS Group , you will work both independently and with a team of programmers and engineers on complex projects related to Naval ship platforms. The position will develop and design HMI interfaces for use on U.S Naval ships and their applicable instrumentation and control systems. You will work with and design Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Graphic User Interfaces (GUI) using Avena/Wonderware software systems. You will perform remote troubleshooting to assist onsite and ships force personnel in the repair and troubleshooting of these systems. You will develop and lab test these systems to ensure proper operation. You will be a vital person in the execution of HMI/GUI system upgrades and use your professional leadership skills in a team environment to accomplish these goals. The position will also contribute real value by developing, troubleshooting, and testing of HMI/GUI systems in both a test lab and on actual Naval ships and facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop HMI/GUI systems utilizing Avena Wonderware software suite. Perform both In-house and field (on-ship) troubleshooting for such systems. Review power plant and ships instrumentation drawings, specifications, piping and instrument (PID) diagrams for proper representation within the HMI and develop sequences of automation for such systems. Develop software and/or hardware installation plans with input from external supporting commands and technical authorities. Develop, maintain, and configuration manage software and hardware installation procedures, instructions, notices, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Develop Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) packages for HMI/GUI system upgrades. Provide engineering services that include development and maintenance in support of hardware and software technical documentation and requirements. Provide engineering services that include development and maintenance in support of technical data packages (TDPs).
Qualifications/ Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years experience or knowledge of development of Human Machine Interfaces utilizing Avena Wonderware software. Understanding of and interpreting power plant drawings and schematics. Understanding of control and instrumentation system design and interfaces. Ability to work in a team environment to be able to coordinate system upgrades between various system interfaces.
