AFSI, located in Allen, Texas, has and will continue to base its strategy on technical and application support, quality assurance, product performance and value.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Class "A" Machinist/Programmer/Lead, to join our precision manufacturing team at our brand-new 94,413 square foot, climate-controlled facility, in Allen, Texas. We have state-of-the-art DMG Mori Lathes, Mills, and Mill-Turn machines. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of CAM software experience, extensive experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, with the ability to read complex blueprints, work with tight tolerances, and ensure high-quality workmanship. This role requires a highly motivated individual with proven leadership skills, excellent technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, a strong commitment to safety, and continuous improvement. This is a second shift position. Hours are Monday - Thursday from 6pm to 6am. We have always offered overtime opportunities on Fridays and Saturdays. With some employees, averaging 55 - 60 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual and CNC machines including lathes, mills, grinders, and other shop equipment Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders Measure, examine, and test completed parts for conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMMs Perform layout work and make complex machine setups with minimal supervision Adjust machining processes to improve efficiency and quality Maintain tools, machines, and work area in a clean, safe, and organized condition Troubleshoot machining issues and work with engineering to resolve design or tooling challenges Follow all safety regulations and company policies Train and mentor junior machinists as needed Maintain accurate documentation and production records
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred 2 years' experience with Esprit or other CAM Software. Minimum [5+] years of experience as a machinist, with at least 2 years setting up CNC lathes or mills. Excellent Leadership qualities Strong knowledge of manual machining and CNC operations (including G and M code understanding) Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques Ability to interpret complex blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and quality Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, or other quality standards is a plus Preferred Experience (Optional): Experience in a leadership role Experience with multi-axis CNC machines Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical device industries Experience working under ISO or AS9100 quality systems Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or 5S environments Attributes aligned to our AFSI Mission Detail-oriented, data-driven, and resourceful Curious, collaborative, and proactive in problem-solving Committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence
