Job Description
The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, programming, and maintaining the CNC machines to ensure efficient and accurate production of parts and components. The role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, creating CNC programs, selecting tools, and optimizing production processes to meet quality standards and production timelines. This position plays a critical role in manufacturing operations by ensuring precision and efficiency in CNC machining. •This is a part time position with the possibility of turning into full time.•
Key Responsibilities:
Program Creation:
Develop and write CNC programs using CAD/CAM software based on engineering drawings and specifications. Select appropriate tools, cutting paths, and speeds for materials and parts to be machined.Machine Setup & Operation:
Set up and configure CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and routers, for production runs. Perform test runs and ensure the machines are properly calibrated and producing accurate parts.Troubleshooting & Optimization:
Diagnose and troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues, adjusting programs as needed. Optimize machine programs to improve production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize tool wear.Quality Control:
Ensure all machined parts meet quality specifications and tolerances. Work with the quality control team to perform inspections and verify part accuracy.Maintenance & Documentation:
Maintain records of programs, tools, and production processes. Assist in routine maintenance of CNC machines to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations.Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production staff to ensure efficient workflow and address any production challenges. Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements and tooling upgrades.Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or vocational training in CNC machining or a related field preferred. 3+ years of experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., MasterCAM, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, VCARVE
)Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and routers. Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).Other Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Work Environment:
