Full Job Description Mechanical Designer Job Summary:
Metal Storm is a metal fabrication shop that does Design, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, Machining, Field Installation and more. We have a full shop with in-house laser cutting, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding and assembly. We are looking to hire a qualified individual in our CAD department, with Solid Works design/drafting, as well as doing material take-off and estimation of projects. Metal Storm is a fast-paced company that works in many different industries and types of projects. You must have good organizational skills, strong work ethic, be able to think outside the box, and have a "whatever it takes" mentality for this position. We are looking for someone that has experience in the job shop environment and understands the general shop practices to do this position well. This position is one of wearing several hats and never has a dull moment. If you worked in a shop and went into CAD Design/Drafting, this is a big plus for this type of position. We are looking for someone who is very experienced with SolidWorks and is efficient at drawing parts, fixtures, assemblies, etc. You must know your way around Microsoft Office software, such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Degree in Mechanical design, Drafting or drafting-oriented trade school or equivalent. Minimum of two years of mechanical design and drafting experience. Ability to check completed drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Knowledge of materials selection criteria, sheet metal fabrication, and machine shop practices. 2D AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience is mandatory. Reverse engineering. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be organized and detail oriented. Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently. Experience with drawing mechanical parts. Experience with manufacturing processes. Data/File management.
Computer skills:
In addition to the requirements above, the candidate must have experience with MS Office, including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word and Excel, Outlook, and other Office suite tools.
Salary :
Starting at $20-$30/hour (based on knowledge and experience)
Schedule:
8-10 hour shifts
