Computer Technician / Trainer Grass Valley, CA 95945 From $25 an hour - Full-time From $25 an hour - Full-time We are a small, well-loved technology support company based in Grass Valley (Voted Best Of 11 years straight!). We help people who feel overwhelmed or left behind by technology, and a large portion of our clients are seniors.
Our goal is simple:
be patient, be kind, and take care of people the right way. We are looking to add a full-time Technician to our team, but this is not a traditional repair shop position. Some of your time will be spent in our repair room diagnosing and repairing Windows and Apple computers (Linux knowledge is a bonus!). The other part of your time will be spent working directly with clients in our "Tech Bar" setting, helping them with everything from learning how to text photos and organize their smartphone to resetting passwords, renewing passports online, navigating websites, setting up new devices, and solving the everyday technology frustrations that impact their lives. This role is a great fit if you: Genuinely enjoy helping people and making their lives easier Are patient, especially with people who may be confused, frustrated, or not tech-savvy Can explain technical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language Enjoy both hands-on technical work and face-to-face client interaction Have a great attitude, sense of humor, and "bring the magic" mentality Are sharp, capable, and have a "figure it out" mindset Pay attention to details and take pride in doing things correctly Are comfortable asking questions but don't need constant direction Are honest, reliable, and follow through on what you say you'll do Can follow instructions and be part of a team that supports each other Technical skills and experience: Ability to diagnose and repair software and hardware problems with Windows and Apple desktops, laptops, and all-in-ones, including hard drive replacements/clones, screen replacements, batteries, Wi-Fi cards, internal speakers, power supplies, GPUs, software & OS issues, etc. Virus and malware removal Computer tune-ups and performance optimization Ability to build computers Knowledge of Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, and other email platforms Strong general technology knowledge across computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, email, cloud services, and consumer technology Familiarity with Windows Server environments & Linux is a bonus, but not required. While strong technical skills are required for this role, what really sets someone apart here is how they treat people. Many of our clients come to us feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or intimidated by technology. We can teach processes and procedures. Kindness, patience, and great communication are much harder to teach. That said, this role is for experienced computer techs, not novices. Requirements:
