Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Service Desk System Administrator to join our Networks and Computing IT team supporting classified programs. This role provides critical first-line technical support and system administration assistance to ensure operational readiness and user satisfaction within secure environments. You use your foundational experience with system administration , strong customer service mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. This is your opportunity to grow technical skills and gain exposure to classified network operations.
Position Responsibilities :
Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting for end users, including hardware, software, and network issues. Assist with system provisioning, user account management , and access control in accordance with security policies. Monitor system performance and maintain system health and security . Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions accurately in the ticketing system . Collaborate with senior system administrators and cybersecurity teams to escalate and resolve complex issues . Participate in on-the-job training, self-study, and mentorship programs to develop technical and security skills and keep them current . Communicate clearly and professionally with users, management, and team members to ensure timely issue resolutio n Adhere to all security protocols and compliance requirements relevant to classified environment s This position is expected to be fully onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications:
Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active. )
TS/SCI OR
successful completion of a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years, or have been enrolled in a Continuous Vetting program within the last 5 years .
Minimum years of related experience:
1+ for level 2, 3+ for level 3 . Windows System Administration experience. If not already within commuting distance of the worksite, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense .
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting classified networks . Familiarity with common IT support tools such as ticketing systems, remote desktop, and diagnostic utilities (e.g. Jira Service Desk ). Knowledge of Active Directory , user account provisioning, and group policy management. Exposure to cybersecurity principles and compliance frameworks (e.g., JSIG RMF ). Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., PowerShell , Bash ). Prior experience in a service desk or help desk role. Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ ( Sec+ ), Network+ , or CISSP . Associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related .
Typical Education & Experience:
Associate (level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 years' related work experience, etc.). Experienced (level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.)
