Support Engineer

  • Navy Undersea Weapons and Warfare Systems Support Synchron has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to provide engineering management support to the U.
S. Navy Team Submarine organization at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. You will assist Team Sub in the development and procurement of high technology weapons and defensive systems. We are seeking a candidate to join our team and help provide the US Navy with cutting edge undersea warfare technology. You will provide direct support to the Team Submarine's PMS 404 Undersea Weapons Program Office.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to PMS 404 Heavyweight Torpedo (HWT) team in the engineering of new weapons systems. Draft and route correspondence and technical documents relating to engineering projects. Facilitate communications between the warfare centers, the program office, and the tech warrant holders. Coordinate with other program offices as necessary to accomplish programmatic goals. Provide direct support for planning and execution of all HWT engineering related program reviews and Milestones, including scheduling, requirements reviews, and keeping records of pending and closed issues.
Education and Experience:
3 years of experience in engineering / engineering management field. BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Experience with MS Teams and MS Office Suite Knowledge and understanding of Navy Budget. Capable of performing tasking without constant reminders; ability to recognize and complete adjacent tasking without direction. Active DOD Secret clearance.
Desired Experience:
5 years of experience in engineering / engineering management fields. A prior submarine warfare qualified officer; highly desired to have held these billets: AWEPS (SSN) TSO (SSBN) Prior experience working in a Navy weapons program office. Able to independently prioritize work tasks and functions.
Work Location:
Vicinity of Washington Navy Yard. Telework options for 1-2 days per week after all initial onboarding and team integration is completed (estimated 2-4 months).
Travel:
potential for travel (less than 10%)
