Job Description

•THIS
IS AN INTERNAL POSITION AND ALL APPLICANTS PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS AN IT1 SALARY LEVEL
•This skilled technical position reports to the Help Desk Manager and is responsible for computer or computer related installs, repairs, setups, deployment, and problem solving on an on-going basis to support the City of Miramar's internal personal computer-based network. This position is entry level but also supplies end-user training and support as required. Analyzes, installs, tests, debugs, tunes, maintains, documents, and supports end user computers and all related hardware and software in a Windows environment. Create and deploy computer images to meet department's system design specifications. Investigates and resolves computer software and hardware problems for end users. Interacts with end users to analyze and evaluate factors such as PC equipment and software specifications to solve business related issues. Completes IT work orders in a timely manner. Monitor and maintain communication systems, radios, modems, analog and digital signaling equipment to ensure reliability and availability. Researches and implements personal computer and related equipment modifications that include service packs, fixes, security upgrades and programs. Monitors and reports on server and personal computer performance. Implements and maintains standard procedures for setup and restoration of personal computers and servers. Evaluates, installs, tests, debugs, implements, and maintains software applications and related software products from an operational perspective. Ensures personal computer and all related hardware and software integrity. May train end-users to use new and/or modified hardware and/or software. May revise end-user training manuals. May monitor the functioning of PC equipment to ensure that the system operates in conformance with specifications and standards. Provides end-user technical support as directed. Interacts and communicates daily with the immediate supervisor, manager, and city personnel. Performs additional related duties as assigned and/or required. Associate's degree in Computer Technology or related field A minimum of 1 year of work-related experience in a computer environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential duties of the job.
FDLE-CJIS
certification required for employment. Employee must attain CJIS Certification within 3 months of employment. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and related equipment. Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of the deployment and support of computer hardware and software in a business environment. Knowledge of computer system and network security practices. Ability to evaluate, analyze, and implement computer hardware and software systems to meet business needs. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies. Ability to be polite, helpful, and courteous when working with end users. Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications and/or within the specified parameters. Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the public and colleagues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires light physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds. May require occasional crouching, kneeling, bending, or stooping. Frequent periods of standing or walking may be required.
