This mid-level role provides hands-on support for hardware, software, and network services, including Microsoft Windows client and server environments, network devices (switches, routers, firewalls), and cloud-based conferencing and A/V platforms. The specialist will deliver walk-up and ticket-based IT support, assist with device provisioning and software licensing, maintain inventory, uphold cybersecurity and physical security protocols, and collaborate with other departments on room configurations and technology upgrades. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a customer-focused mindset, clear communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position also offers opportunities for growth into senior technical or leadership roles as experience and skills develop. Key Responsibilities (Principal Duties and Accountabilities •Essential Functions) Provide on-site IT support for hardware, software, network systems, and IT services in a mission-driven environment. Deliver responsive walk-up and ticket-based technical support, including troubleshooting PCs, printers, peripherals, and user issues. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows client and server operating systems. Configure and support network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems. Monitor system and network performance; identify issues and assist in troubleshooting outages or service degradation using standard diagnostic tools. Support setup, testing, and real-time operation of A/V equipment and conferencing platforms for meetings and events. Assist with device provisioning, account setup, and enforcement of password, identity, and access control policies. Maintain and track IT inventory, including hardware assets, A/V equipment, and related peripherals. Assist with installation, upgrades, deployments, and lifecycle replacement of IT hardware and software. Create and maintain basic technical documentation, including SOPs, asset records, and configuration updates. Support cybersecurity and information assurance practices by following established security protocols and handling sensitive information appropriately. Assist with maintaining physical and facility security procedures as required. Coordinate with vendors and service providers to report issues and support service requests as directed. Collaborate with internal teams to support room configurations, technology upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. Support IT projects, system upgrades, and operational initiatives as assigned. Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to customers, team members, and stakeholders. Maintain compliance with organizational policies, required system access controls, and security clearance requirements. Adapt to evolving technical requirements and organizational priorities in a dynamic environment. May collaborate with other IT personnel and share technical knowledge with team members as needed. Fluency in English (written and spoken) Must have active Secret or higher Security clearance; or the eligibility to obtain a secret clearance. Education High School Diploma Required Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science a relevant field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Skills, Experience & Abilities 2+ years' experience providing on-site IT support for hardware, software, and network systems Experience collaborating with IT team members and sharing technical knowledge Skilled in A/V setup, testing, and event support Proficient in troubleshooting PCs, printers, and peripherals Strong knowledge of Windows client/server systems and network devices Familiar with device provisioning, access control, and cybersecurity standards Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders Familiar with vendor coordination and service request processes Collaborative, flexible, and adaptable to changing organizational needs Preferred Qualifications Additional experience as an IT Network Administrator DoD experience Certifications in one or more:
CCNA /CCDA /CCNP /CCIE /CISSP /CCSP
/Cloud / Network+ /Linux+ /Sec+ Certifications or compatible DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level 2 Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work schedules are typically aligned to cover operational needs within these hours. Primary work hours are scheduled within the facility's operating window (approximately 0700-1800). Position may require coverage outside standard operating hours, including early mornings or evenings, to support facility opening and closing activities.
