Job Description
Library Desktop Support Analyst As the next Library Desktop Support Analyst for the City of Twin Falls, you will play an important role in keeping technology reliable, accessible, and user-friendly for both library staff and patrons. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical troubleshooting skills, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to explain technology clearly to users with varying levels of experience. In this important role, you will install, support, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop systems, software applications, public computers, peripherals, and related technology throughout the Twin Falls Public Library. You will also serve as a collaborative partner with the City's Information Technology Department to support secure, efficient, and consistent technology services. Description As the Library Desktop Support Analyst, you will: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop systems, software, peripherals, and related technology Provide helpdesk support to library staff and patrons by responding to phone, voicemail, help ticket, and email requests Support public computers, printing stations, and other technology services used by library patrons Maintain an accurate inventory of library technology, equipment, and devices Collaborate with City IT on system updates, security practices, technology planning, and deployment Provide technical support and training to library staff on software applications and technology systems Teach IT-related classes, digital literacy courses, workshops, and presentations to members of the public Assess technology training needs and customize instruction for individuals and groups Maintain and update the library website to ensure content is current, accurate, and accessible Assist with data entry, data integration, online databases, digital resource platforms, and digitization projects Maintain and update forms using Microsoft Forms and Adobe Participate in developing technology goals, policies, procedures, and user documentation Serve as the library's primary liaison to the Lynx Consortium IT committee Supervise and train the Technology Assistant and support staff using public computers Respond to patron and staff questions in a courteous, timely, and professional manner Perform related duties as required Pay & Benefits $25.14 - $30.18 per hour ($52,298 - $62,779 annually), depending on experience Full-time, non-exempt position Robust retirement plan with strong employer contributions Paid medical and vacation leave, plus paid holidays Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage City-paid life and disability insurance Wellness programs, additional savings, and retirement benefits Free or discounted access to City recreation amenities, including the pool, golf course, and library What We're Looking For Strong troubleshooting skills with desktop systems, software, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users Customer-focused approach to supporting staff, patrons, and community members Experience with Windows operating systems and Debian-based Linux desktop distributions Ability to evaluate emerging library technologies and products and provide informed recommendations to administration Working knowledge of Office 365, web browsers, computer hardware, and basic networking concepts Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and technology security standards Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and support requests accurately and efficiently Strong attention to detail, documentation, and record-keeping skills Ability to design and deliver digital literacy training for diverse public audiences Professionalism, confidentiality, sound judgment, and a collaborative work style Ability to learn new technologies quickly and solve complex problems with persistence Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Associate degree or technical training in IT, computer technology, networking, or a related field Strong troubleshooting skills with current Windows operating systems and Debian-based Linux systems Experience providing customer-focused technical support Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work Work Environment This position primarily works in a public library environment. Occasional work in equipment rooms or other municipal sites may be required. Duties may involve working around computer equipment, electrical hazards, and technology infrastructure. Work requires frequent use of computers, extended screen time, communication with staff and patrons, and the ability to operate technology equipment with accuracy and attention to detail.
