Desktop Support Technician (Self Employed/Freelance/Contactor)

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Desktop Support Technician to join our IT team. This role is essential in providing technical support to our users, ensuring that all computer systems and networks operate efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical support, network administration, and computer management, with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively and provide exceptional customer service. Duties Provide technical support for hardware and software issues across various platforms. Assist users with troubleshooting and resolving desktop-related problems via help desk requests. Manage and configure Windows Server environments, including DNS settings and VPN connections. Utilize tools such as Jira and ServiceNow for tracking incidents and managing service requests. Perform routine maintenance on computer hardware and software to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with the network administration team to maintain network integrity and security. Document solutions for common issues to enhance the knowledge base for future reference. Train users on new technologies and software applications as needed. Requirements Proven experience in technical support or a related field. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts. Familiarity with Windows Server administration, DNS management, and VPN configuration. Experience using help desk software such as ServiceNow or Jira for incident tracking. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure. Strong communication skills to effectively assist users with varying levels of technical expertise. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
