Job Description Title:
Ribbon Communications VoIP Subject Matter Expert (UC SME) Location(s): Scott AFB, IL;
Washington, DC Clearance Requirement:
DoD Secret (minimum) or U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain clearance Position Overview NextPoint Group is seeking a Ribbon Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to support Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) voice services within Unified Capabilities (UC). This role will focus on the maintenance, optimization, and operational support of Ribbon Multiservice Fixed and Mobile Solutions (MFSS) and WANSS equipment deployed at Government sites. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering assessments of Ribbon SS hardware, software, protocols, and configurations to meet DISA requirements
  • Participate in program meetings, technical reviews, and status briefings
  • Apply and manage Ribbon support patches and updates
  • Collaborate with DISA and contractor personnel to support the installed base through resource sharing, travel, and cross-coverage
  • Serve as a Tier III Ribbon SME supporting DISA Tier II personnel
  • Define and execute end-to-end migration strategies and cutover plans from legacy systems to Ribbon VoIP platforms
  • Deploy and support Ribbon products, including SBCs, PSX Manager, Analytics Manager, RAMP Network Element Manager, and Ribbon Application Server
  • Collect, analyze, and map legacy switch data into Ribbon-compatible formats
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to E911, voicemail, unsupported line types, and customer group configurations
  • Define migration scope and phased deployment strategies for customer environments
  • Develop and document comprehensive migration and cutover plans
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including site data, schedules, and responsibilities
  • Execute programmable subscriber updates and provide real-time support during live cutovers Work Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time, primarily on-site at Scott AFB, IL
  • Availability for off-hours support, including nights and weekends, for maintenance and emergency response
  • Occasional travel to DISA Headquarters Lab (Ft. Meade, MD) and other NCR locations as needed Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Ribbon certifications preferred (SBC Edge Implementation & Support, SBC Core, PSX)
  • Strong expertise with Ribbon platforms: SBCs, PSX Manager, Analytics Manager, RAMP, and Ribbon Application Server
