The Division of Administration/Office of Technology Services has a vacancy. This position is located in the Network Communicatiosn Services Section. The incumbent performs professional network engineering duties in support of the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure and associated systems. This role bridges network engineering and supporting infrastructure functions, with a focus on network operations, system visibility, automation, and infrastructure support in addition to traditional Layer 1-4 network operations. Primary responsibilities include support and enhancement of network management, visibility, and automation systems; support of network-supporting infrastructure and platforms; development and maintenance of operational procedures, standard workflows, and automation processes; and ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of tools used to manage and support the statewide network environment. The position routinely coordinates with network engineers and architects, incident response teams, systems teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure network reliability, operational awareness, and effective support across OTS's complex, multi-agency infrastructure. The Division of Administration is the state government's management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following: Overseeing the state's capital construction program Working to provide state and federal grants for community development Development of the state budget Providing technology services Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes Five years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR An associate's degree in information technology plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus two years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR A master's degree plus two years of experience in information technology or administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles. Job Duties:
As an IT Statewide Engineer, you will design, implement, and support enterprise technology infrastructure that powers critical statewide operations, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing systems that meet organizational and customer needs. In this role, you will: Network Management & Visibility Platform Support Serve as the lead administrator and subject matter expert for enterprise network management, visibility, monitoring, and automation platforms. Design, implement, configure, and maintain network management systems, integrations, and platform environments supporting enterprise operations. Develop automation workflows, data collection processes, and advanced platform capabilities that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. Maintain standards for telemetry, monitoring coverage, alerting accuracy, and data integrity to ensure effective network visibility and troubleshooting. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to enhance platform performance, improve network health insights, and support enterprise operational standards. Manage platform lifecycle, performance, availability, documentation, and adoption standards across teams. Network Services Infrastructure Support Support deployment, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management of network services infrastructure platforms, controllers, and virtual appliances. Monitor system health, performance, reliability, and capacity for platforms critical to enterprise network service delivery. Establish maintenance standards, operational procedures, and lifecycle practices to ensure consistent platform performance and availability. Coordinate maintenance activities, vendor support, system changes, and troubleshooting efforts impacting network infrastructure services. Collaborate with systems and virtualization teams to support infrastructure dependencies while maintaining ownership of network services platform functionality. Tooling, Automation & Emerging Platform Support Evaluate, implement, and support tools and platforms that enhance network operations, automation, infrastructure visibility, and operational efficiency. Develop and maintain automation solutions that streamline processes, improve consistency, and optimize network operations. Support systems providing network addressing, infrastructure awareness, resource tracking, and improved data accuracy across enterprise environments. Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with enterprise standards and long-term network strategy. Ensure successful integration, documentation, and ongoing support of network operational tools and automation platforms. Operational Support & Incident Collaboration Apply network engineering expertise (Layer 1-4) to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve network-related issues impacting enterprise services. Utilize monitoring, automation, and visibility platforms to identify issues, assess impact, and support root cause analysis during incidents. Collaborate with network engineering, operations, and incident response teams to support troubleshooting, escalation, mitigation, and operational decision-making. Identify monitoring and alerting gaps while analyzing incident trends and recurring issues to improve proactive response capabilities. Technical Training & Knowledge Development Maintain current knowledge of network technologies, automation platforms, monitoring tools, and emerging technologies relevant to assigned responsibilities. Develop documentation, operational procedures, and reference materials to support consistent platform usage and operational efficiency. Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and training to engineering and operations teams on supported platforms and tools. Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation, training, and platform adoption across the organization. Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for supported network platforms, tools, and automation solutions. Other Duties Perform additional assignments, special projects, technical analysis, studies, planning activities, and other duties as assigned.

This vacancy will be filled by the promotion of a current, permanent-status Office of Technology Services employee . A permanent status employee may be required to serve a new probationary period in lieu of promotion.
