This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, OIT, Information Security and Privacy Group. As a IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-9, you will support the implementation and dissemination of agency-wide information privacy and security policies, procedures, and standards for the information and information technology systems that support the operations and assets of CMS.

Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. AND 2.) AND 3.) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. AND 4.) Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In order to qualify for the GS-09 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Assisting with research and basic application of federal privacy and cybersecurity requirements, AND; 2. Providing support in preparing and organizing privacy compliance documentation (e.g., PIAs, PTAs, SORNs), AND; 3 . Gathering and organizing information related to systems and data sharing activities to support privacy reviews. - OR - Substitution of Education for Experience:
You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS-09 level by possessing a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled. - OR - Combination of Experience and Education:
Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the GS-07 grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at the grade GS-09. Therefore, only education in excess of one full year of graduate-level education may be used to combine education and experience. TRANSCRIPTS
are required to verify satisfactory completion of the educational requirement related to substitution of education for experience and combination of experience and education. Experience refers to both paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
