Job Requirements Greensboro, NC Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified $125,000 - $145,000 Job Description Piper Companies is seeking an IT Systems Specialist Lead to provide senior-level technical leadership across a complex manufacturing and operational technology environment onsite in Greensboro, North Carolina. The IT Systems Specialist Lead will drive solution design, governance, and service delivery for plant and warehouse systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement across IT/OT platforms. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who excels in industrial automation integrations, legacy-to-modern modernization, and production-critical systems support. Responsibilities for the
IT Systems Specialist Lead:
- Serve as the lead technical authority for manufacturing systems, defining architecture standards and ensuring alignment across OT, IT, and cloud environments
- Own complex integrations such as
SCADA/PLC
connections, MES/MOM to ERP integrations, and cross-platform data flows across plant systems- Act as the highest escalation point for critical incidents, leading root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence
- Oversee service delivery using ITIL practices, ensuring uptime, monitoring, performance, and lifecycle management across production systems
- Translate operational requirements into scalable, supportable technical solutions and lead deployment, testing, and go-live activities
- Must be able to work onsite full-time in a manufacturing environment and support occasional off-hours production needs Qualifications for the IT Systems Specialist Lead include:
- 10+ years of IT experience with significant exposure to manufacturing, industrial automation, or OT environments
- Hands-on experience with
SCADA/PLC
integrations, MES/MOM platforms, and enterprise system integrations (e.g., SAP PP/PM preferred)- Strong expertise across legacy and modern application stacks including .NET Framework, Classic ASP, VB6/VBScript, MSMQ, and modern C# / Angular applications hosted on IIS
- Deep knowledge of SQL Server (2008 R2-2022), Windows Server (2008-2022), and Windows 10/11 endpoints
- Experience supporting warehouse and manufacturing technologies such as RFID systems, AGVs, and inventory/palletizing automation systems
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- ITIL Foundation certification preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance. Compensation for the IT Systems Specialist Lead includes:
