Job Description

About the Role As a Facilities Systems Technician, you will serve as the primary technical authority for plant pollution abatement and distributed control systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence by optimizing process equipment, leading maintenance initiatives, and driving safety-first engineering solutions to support high-impact manufacturing environments. Responsibilities Act as the subject matter expert for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and pollution abatement equipment, including scrubbers and baghouses. Oversee the design, installation, and comprehensive documentation of control systems to ensure seamless process integration. Lead mechanical and electrical trade teams in the repair, renovation, and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure. Plan and direct resource allocation using computerized work order management systems to maximize operational uptime. Coordinate with engineering and operations departments to execute system modifications and facility expansions. Champion safety protocols by facilitating FMEA, HAZOP, and JSA processes to ensure full regulatory and environmental compliance. Develop and maintain technical specifications, standard operating procedures, and system schematics. Provide technical guidance and training to off-hour support personnel to ensure consistent first-level response capabilities. Qualifications Required Skills Associate degree in a technical discipline or a High School Diploma with 8+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency in reading complex blueprints and technical drawings. Strong analytical approach to troubleshooting, problem-solving, and equipment repair. Advanced safety awareness with a commitment to maintaining environmental and regulatory standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proactive attitude toward learning new technologies. Preferred Skills Direct experience with ABB DCS Control Systems and instrumentation. Proven background in project management and technical team leadership. Experience managing outside vendors and contractors for system integrity. Strong detail-orientation and ability to work in a self-directed environment.
