Based on experience About the Role Inex Technologies is seeking a hands-on Camera Systems & Technical Support Technician to help configure, test, repair, prepare, and support our license plate recognition camera systems and related equipment. This is a practical, on-site technical role combining camera diagnostics, computer and network troubleshooting, customer support, equipment preparation, shipping, inventory support, and general IT assistance. The right candidate should be comfortable working with electronics, computers, IP networking, Windows and Linux systems, and customer-facing technical issues. This role is appropriate for both experienced technicians and recent graduates in electronics, computer technology, IT, computer science, or related fields. We are also open to current seniors who are able to begin working part-time or full-time while completing their degree. ResponsibilitiesCamera, Computer, and Electronics Testing Diagnose, test, configure, and repair LPR cameras, computers, network equipment, and related electronic devices. Perform visual inspections, functional testing, software configuration, firmware updates, part swaps, and retesting. Troubleshoot common camera, power, storage, networking, hardware, and software issues. Determine when an issue can be resolved internally versus when it should be escalated to the R D or engineering team. Document symptoms, testing performed, findings, corrective actions, and final disposition of returned or repaired equipment. Camera Configuration and Customer Technical Support Configure cameras, computers, networking devices, and related software for customer deployments. Schedule and conduct technical-support sessions with customers by phone, email, and remote-access software. Assist customers with common setup, connectivity, configuration, and operating issues. Escalate software bugs, recurring product concerns, and complex technical issues to the appropriate internal technical team. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, installers, partners, and internal staff. QA and Development Support Set up and maintain hardware and software environments for QA, testing, and development teams. Prepare cameras, computers, storage media, networking equipment, and test configurations for internal use. Assist with testing software releases, firmware updates, camera configurations, and equipment changes. Help maintain organized test equipment, cables, adapters, power supplies, storage devices, and related technical materials. Support basic documentation of test procedures, setup instructions, recurring issues, and troubleshooting steps. Order Preparation, Shipping, and Inventory Support Prepare, assemble, pack, and ship cameras, computers, mounts, accessories, and related equipment to customers. Assemble camera mounts and other basic hardware components as needed. Verify that outgoing equipment is properly configured, tested, labeled, and packaged. Receive incoming equipment, returned RMAs, and technical inventory. Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records for cameras, computers, accessories, cables, mounts, and other equipment. Help keep the warehouse, repair area, and technical workspace organized. Company IT Support Assist with maintaining the company's internal IT infrastructure. Support employee computers, peripherals, user accounts, printers, networking equipment, and related office technology. Troubleshoot basic Windows, Linux, network, and hardware issues. Assist with maintaining organized records of company equipment, technical assets, and support activity. Documentation and Internal Systems Log technical-support activity, repairs, RMAs, testing, and customer communications in company systems such as Salesforce and Jira. Maintain accurate records of equipment status, repairs, inventory movement, and customer support issues. Follow established procedures and help improve technical documentation over time. Required Qualifications Associate degree, technical certificate, current enrollment, or equivalent hands-on experience in IT, computer technology, electronics, computer science, networking, or a related field. Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, including IP addresses, subnets, Ethernet, switches, routers, and network troubleshooting. Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems. Comfort working with computers, electronics, cables, connectors, cameras, and related hardware. Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and document findings clearly. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Professional communication skills and comfort speaking with customers by phone or remote-support tools. Ability to work on-site in Wayne, New Jersey, on a full-time basis. Ability to lift and move boxes and equipment as part of shipping, receiving, and warehouse support. Preferred Qualifications Experience with IP cameras, CCTV, LPR/ALPR, access control, low-voltage systems, or video equipment. Experience repairing or upgrading computers, cameras, networking equipment, or other electronic devices. Familiarity with PoE devices, RTSP streams, camera web interfaces, or remote-access software. Experience with Salesforce, Jira, inventory systems, ticketing systems, or RMA tracking. CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar technical certification. Bachelor's degree or coursework in IT, computer science, electronics, engineering technology, or a related field. Experience with basic soldering, multimeters, Linux command-line tools, or embedded devices. Experience preparing shipments, maintaining inventory, or assembling technical equipment. Personal Qualities The ideal candidate is: Hands-on, dependable, and comfortable working with both technical equipment and customers. Curious and willing to learn unfamiliar systems. Organized enough to manage repair activity, inventory, shipping, and customer-support follow-up. Comfortable switching between technical troubleshooting, equipment preparation, and administrative documentation. Able to work independently while knowing when to escalate an issue. Reliable in a small-company environment where responsibilities may vary day to day.
