Full-time IT Field Technician II Overview:
The IT Field Technician II is a seasoned professional responsible for driving technological efficiency and infrastructure reliability. Beyond standard installations, you will handle escalated technical issues, manage ISP assets, and assist in the maintenance of critical network hubs. Enhanced Responsibilities (Level II)
Advanced Troubleshooting:
Act as the escalation point for Tier 2 ISP/Tribal Gov Helpdesk tickets, resolving complex connectivity and routing issues.
Infrastructure Management:
Perform preventative maintenance and advanced installations at ISP/Tribal hubs and data centers, including rack management and power system checks.
Systems Administration:
Manage and administrate VISP (Customer Service Software) profiles and network configurations.
Supply Chain Oversight:
Manage ISP inventory levels, coordinate hardware purchasing, and perform monthly invoice reconciliation.
Network Optimization:
Use spectrum analysis tools to identify interference and optimize tower AP performance.
Project Leadership:
Assist in the planning and execution of larger network expansion projects and provide on-the-job training to Level I Technicians. Qualifications (Level II)
Experience:
2+ years of experience in IT field operations, specifically within an ISP or WISP environment.
Education:
Associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, A+, or vendor-specific wireless certs).
Technical Skills:
Advanced understanding of fixed-wireless bridging, VLANs, and IP addressing.
Soft Skills:
Proven project management skills and the ability to lead conflict resolution with clients in a high-paced environment. Physical Requirements (Applies to both Levels)
Lifting:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
Heights:
Must be able to climb ladders (up to 20 feet) and work comfortably on rooftops and wireless towers.
Environment:
Must be able to work in confined spaces (under desks/crawlspaces) and outdoors during inclement weather.
Mobility:
Must be able to stand for extended periods and navigate uneven terrain at customer sites.
