Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our Mission Critical Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the sophisticated control systems that ensure our data center environment remains stable, efficient, and online 24/7. You will bridge the gap between mechanical hardware and digital oversight, managing the "nervous system" of the facility—from Building Management Systems (BMS) to Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).
Key Responsibilities Field Coordination & Installation Oversight:
Lead on-site coordination of I&C subcontractors and vendors to ensure control systems, instrumentation, and automation are installed in accordance with contract documents, approved submittals, and industry best practices.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management:
Manage daily activities of I&C, BMS, EPMS, and controls subcontractors. Conduct regular progress meetings, track RFIs, change orders, and resolve field conflicts or coordination issues with mechanical, electrical, and IT trades.
Commissioning Support:
Oversee and coordinate Level 1-5 commissioning activities. Verify that sensors, actuators, VFDs, and control devices are properly installed, calibrated, and functionally tested against design intent and Owner requirements.
Quality Assurance & Verification:
Perform field inspections and punch walks to confirm proper installation of instrumentation (flow meters, pressure transducers, power quality meters, etc.), control panels, and communication networks. Ensure compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, and fire/life safety requirements.
Technical Interface & Issue Resolution:
Serve as the GC's technical point of contact for I&C matters. Review shop drawings, submittals, and as-builts; facilitate coordination between design engineers and field teams; and drive timely resolution of installation or integration issues.
Schedule & Progress Tracking:
Monitor I&C installation progress against the project schedule, identify potential delays, and implement recovery plans. Support integrated system testing and Owner handover.
Safety & Compliance :
Enforce site safety protocols and ensure all control system work meets applicable codes, standards, and security requirements.
Technical Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent field experience).
Experience:
4+ years of progressive experience in I&C systems, with at least 2+ years in a field coordination or construction role on mission-critical projects (Data Centers, Pharmaceuticals, Semiconductor, or Power Plants strongly preferred).
Software & Systems Knowledge:
Working familiarity with major
BMS/EPMS
platforms (Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Automated Logic, Siemens Desigo, Honeywell, etc.). Ability to interpret control sequences, logic diagrams, and points lists.
Hardware Knowledge:
Hands-on understanding of field devices including VFDs, flow meters, pressure/temperature transducers, power meters, PLCs, and control wiring.
Protocols:
Solid understanding of Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, and other industrial communication protocols.
Construction Tools:
Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management platforms is a plus.
Core Competencies Field Coordination Strength :
Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors in a fast-paced, high-stakes construction environment while maintaining schedule and quality.
Technical Problem-Solving:
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills with the ability to quickly resolve field installation or integration issues. Attention to

Rigorous focus on calibration, labeling, documentation, and verification of control system installations.
Communication & Leadership:
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical requirements to subcontractors, translate issues for project managers and Owners, and foster collaborative solutions across trades.
