Job Description

Position Summary :
The System Administrator/Helpdesk Technician role is responsible for ensuring proper systems operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes actively resolving end user help requests within established SLAs, protecting our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. This role will perform tasks such as helpdesk triage, server patching and management, asset management, automation & scripting, on-prem and cloud active directory management, and documentation of critical processes or functions. This role requires self-motivation and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while prioritizing work at all stages based on situation and people involved.
Responsibilities :
Providing first and second level desktop and mobile device support for the end-user community including remote users reinforcing SLAs to manage end-user expectations. Install, support and maintain computer desktops, laptops, printers and/or related hardware and software. Analyze and resolve end user software program/application issues in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required. Thoroughly record information into a ticket system to ensure resolution in compliance with service level agreements. Provide support for a phone system performing Adds, Moves, and Changes. Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly. Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments. Monitor data-center health using existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers when needed. Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups. Lead and assist in project planning while working with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements. Creating and updating documentation for IT-related assets, processes, procedures, and knowledge bases.
Essential Skills :
Extensive familiarity with Microsoft365 desktop applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) Extensive familiarity with Windows OS (Windows 10/11, Server 2016/2019/2022). Extensive familiarity with web browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) including cache maintenance, security, proxy configuration. Familiarity with computer imaging software. Understanding and awareness of Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID; maintaining user accounts and security groups. Extensive familiarity with hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics of hardware and software issues. Ability to deal professionally and courteously with internal and external contacts. Ability to multitask, strong attention to detail, self-motivated willingness to take initiative. Escalate issues appropriately to the next level. Work well with others as an individual contributor. Independent thinker with a strong sense of urgency and strong customer service skills. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, the OSI Model, and troubleshooting networking issues. Scripting skills are a plus (PowerShell, Bash, Python). Use of IT tools such as RMM, patching software, ticketing systems, and backups. Solid understanding of network file sharing and file rights management. Completing projects, including their objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, resources and activities. Ability to analyze problems and identify resolutions at a strategic and functional level. College degree (Associates or Bachelor) in a technical field. 1 - 4 years IT experience. Microsoft 365
