Job Description

Location:
Varied; Ability to report to any location within the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad System.
Status:
Full-Time Job Overview Reading and Northern Railroad is seeking a motivated, hands-on IT Support Specialist & Field Technician to join our growing technology team. This role is a dynamic hybrid of traditional IT administration and physical infrastructure installation. You will be instrumental in maintaining the "health" of our network across our entire service area, ensuring that warehouses, offices, and field operations remain connected and secure. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting software at a desk and climbing a ladder to install hardware in a warehouse or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Field Infrastructure & Installation Hardware Deployment:
Lead and assist in the physical installation of security cameras, wireless access points, network switches, and Field PCs.
Cabling:
Professional routing and termination of Ethernet (Cat6) and Fiber Optic cabling.
Maintenance:
Perform routine "health checks" on remote equipment to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
Team Deployment:
Support large-scale warehouse projects as part of a multi-person team to ensure efficient infrastructure setup.
Systems Administration & Asset Management User Support:
Assist with the onboarding of new hires, including workstation setup, account provisioning, and hardware orientation.
Help Desk:
Resolve day-to-day technical issues for internal staff with a focus on exceptional customer service.
Qualifications & Requirements Flexibility & Travel:
Must have the ability to report to any location within the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad System. Reliable transportation is required.
Physical Agility:
Ability to climb ladders, work in varied environments, and use power tools safely to install equipment.
Technical Foundation:
Formal training or education in computers/IT is preferred.
Mobility:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Teamwork & Autonomy:
Proven ability to work effectively within a small team and manage tasks independently when in the field.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.
Discretion:
A high level of professional maturity and the ability to handle confidential information with strict integrity.
