Job Description

A growing enterprise organization is hiring an Application Support Specialist I to join a Tier 2 application support team. This role supports live business applications, researches data questions, handles escalated tickets, and helps users resolve issues that cannot be handled by frontline support. This is a fully remote contract role working Arizona core hours, generally 9:00am to 4:00pm AZ time. Preference will be given to candidates in Mountain timezone. The role is best suited for someone with roughly 1 to 2 years of application support, technical support, or related systems support experience. What You'll Be Doing Support escalated application tickets and service requests in a Tier 2 environment Research user issues by navigating AS/400 screens, tables, and related application data Run SQL queries, including prewritten queries, to locate records and validate data Help with updates to corporate-level tables, rate tables, inventory tables, and sales transactions Diagnose issues and determine when they need to be escalated to a DBA, developer, or other technical team Track tickets, user communication, and follow-up activity through ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools Maintain clear communication with users while issues are being researched or resolved Prioritize and manage an assigned ticket queue based on urgency and business impact Support approved after-hours production data changes when needed Document common issues and resolutions for future reference Required Experience Roughly 1 to 2 years of experience in application support, technical support, help desk, or systems support Experience supporting users in a ticket-based environment Some exposure to supporting SQL-driven business applications like ERP, CRM, etc. Ability to navigate application screens, menus, function keys, and table-based data Basic SQL experience, including running SELECT statements and understanding table joins Strong follow-up, responsiveness, and user communication skills Ability to prioritize an individual ticket queue and identify when escalation is needed Nice to Have ServiceNow experience Familiarity with
AS/400, IBM
i, iSeries, etc. Experience supporting rate tables, inventory tables, transaction updates, or similar business data Exposure to DB2 or database tables connected to AS/400 applications Experience with approved production data updates or after-hours support activities Compensation & Benefits Contract role, possibility for extension in 2027 Pay rate: $24-28/hr W2 W2 employment through Vaco with benefits available, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
