Apprentice IT Consultants / Network Technicians / IT Helpdesk

Job Summary We are a rapidly growing technology consulting company looking for motivated apprentice-level IT professionals for on-call, project-based, and internal technical support work in and around San Francisco. This role is designed for candidates who are earlier in their IT career but are serious about learning, improving, and gaining real-world consulting experience. Apprentice Consultants will support basic IT tasks, assist senior consultants and consultants on client projects, and participate in internal training and technical projects. This is primarily 1099 work, with potential future W2 opportunities for those who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and steady technical growth. We do not operate from a traditional office. You set your availability, and we assign work based on your skill level, schedule, and readiness. There are no guaranteed hours, but there is consistent opportunity for those who show initiative, follow directions, communicate well, and continue building their skills. Internal projects may be offered at lower internal rates, typically around $40/hr, in addition to eligible client-facing work. As you become more experienced, there is potential to grow into a full IT Consultant role, take on more independent client work, and eventually participate in larger projects.

Note:

Candidates must be within a 30-45 minute drive of San Francisco. Applicants outside this range will not be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently employed, in training, or looking for part-time technical work. Essential Duties Assist with Level 1 IT support requests onsite and remotely Help with workstation setup, device inventory, imaging, and basic troubleshooting Support senior consultants and consultants during client projects Assist with basic PC/Mac support, printer troubleshooting, account setup, and hardware checks Help document equipment, network details, completed work, and client environments Assist with basic cloud portal tasks under supervision Participate in internal training and technical learning assignments Communicate professionally with clients and team members Follow instructions carefully and escalate issues when needed Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills Basic understanding of computers, networking, and common IT support concepts Willingness to learn quickly and apply training in real-world environments Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Strong attention to detail when documenting work and completing assigned tasks Professional communication skills Ability to work onsite with clients in a respectful and reliable manner Ability to ask questions when unclear and escalate issues appropriately Interest in growing within IT consulting, networking, cloud systems, cybersecurity, or technical support Preferred Skills 0-3 years of IT, help desk, technical support, or hands-on technical experience Currently studying IT, networking, cybersecurity, cloud administration, or a related field Entry-level certifications or active pursuit of certifications Familiarity with PC/Mac setup, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, basic networking, Wi-Fi, printers, or hardware troubleshooting Availability for flexible hours, including occasional nights or weekends Strong interest in growing into an IT Consultant role over time
