SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY
As an AV Support Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring that students and teachers have seamless access to high-quality audiovisual (AV) systems that enhance learning. You will support, maintain, and troubleshoot AV equipment across multiple school sites, ensuring that technology in classrooms, auditoriums, conference rooms, and other learning spaces is operating effectively. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-service mindset to provide a reliable and engaging digital learning environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
AV Design, Installation, & Maintenance Install, configure, and maintain AV equipment, including projectors, interactive displays, digital signage, sound systems, microphones, and speakers. Manage and troubleshoot AV control systems such as Kramer, Crestron, Extron and others, ensuring smooth operation of integrated technologies. Work with other Digital Strategy teams to integrate AV technology with school networks, ensuring compatibility with district-wide platforms and security protocols. Monitor and manage inventory of AV equipment, recommending upgrades and replacements as needed. Maintain documentation and logs of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and completed support requests. Coordinate with vendors for repairs, installations, and system upgrades. Stay up to date on emerging AV technologies to improve school AV systems and recommend future implementations. AV Support & Troubleshooting Provide on-site and remote technical support for AV issues in classrooms, meeting rooms, and event spaces, responding to urgent AV support requests to minimize disruptions to instruction and school operations. Support live events, including board meetings, professional development sessions, and school assemblies ensuring high-quality audio and video output. Train teachers and staff on how to effectively use supported AV technologies. Troubleshoot AV connectivity issues, ensuring seamless integration with district-wide IT infrastructure. "Day In the Life" Overview Each day as an AV Support Engineer brings a mix of troubleshooting, maintenance, and support. You might start by reviewing support tickets and resolving urgent AV issues in classrooms or auditoriums. A morning visit could involve fixing an interactive display, followed by a training session for the teacher. Later, you may be called to set up AV for a board meeting or perform routine maintenance on digital signage. Throughout the day, you may be called upon to assist with live events, integrate AV with school networks, and document completed tasks using a ticketing system. Every day is dynamic, requiring technical expertise, problem-solving, and a commitment to seamless learning experiences.
WHAT YOU'll BRING:
SKILLS AND MINDSETS
Strong knowledge of AV hardware and software, including projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, and control systems like Kramer, Crestron, Extron and others. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve AV issues in classrooms, auditoriums, and conference rooms quickly and efficiently. Familiarity with networking principles related to AV systems, including IP-based AV solutions and video conferencing platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to train and support non-technical users. Experience supporting live events, streaming setups, and sound mixing to ensure high-quality presentations. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple school sites.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (IT, AV Technology, Communications, or similar) preferred. AV-related certifications (e.g., CTS - Certified Technology Specialist or CAT - Commercial Audio Technician) strongly preferred. Proven experience in AV support, IT support, or a related technical role required, preferably in an educational or corporate setting.

ELIGIBILITY FOR REMOTE WORK
Flexible work (hybrid or virtual) will be determined based on project and support needs on a rolling basis. May require after-hours availability for maintenance, projects, or emergency repairs.
