ICT Engineer - Mission Critical HED is looking to add an experienced person to our ICT team. The person filling this position will be responsible developing ICT and security systems for complex projects. About HED We are a team that is full of ideas, experience, creativity, passionate opinions, insatiable curiosity, uncompromising integrity, commitment, and skill. Our culture is about aspiration, embracing change and challenges, listening to (and learning from) each other, encouraging continual learning, and inspiring collective growth. As an inclusive, integrated architecture and engineering practice, we value the diversity of perspectives, experiences, abilities, and expertise that advance both the work we do, and the world we share.
Position Summary The ICT Engineer contributes advanced technical expertise to the design and coordination of information and communication technology systems on complex projects. Operating with limited guidance, this role produces ICT design deliverables, resolves cross-discipline issues, and supports client communication. ICT Engineers at this level demonstrate strong technical judgment, contribute to quality efforts, and begin to take ownership of key project components, while still collaborating closely with senior staff for overall project direction.
Essential Functions Develop ICT and security system designs for complex projects, producing calculations and documentation with limited supervision. Manage Revit models and low-voltage system views to support project deliverables. Perform and validate calculations for cabling distances, voltage drops, and equipment loads, applying results to project design decisions. Resolve cross-discipline coordination issues in collaboration with architects, structural, and civil engineers. Support site visits, field reports, punch lists, and construction administration activities. Contribute to QA/QC processes by reviewing design accuracy and compliance with project standards. Mentor junior staff on project tasks and workflows, with guidance from senior engineers. Participate in technical meetings and client discussions, supporting senior staff in presentations. Assist in proposal preparation and scoping efforts by providing technical input.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and/or PSP or CPP certification preferred. 2-5 years of experience in ICT, Physical Security or low-voltage systems design within the AEC industry. Familiarity with BICSI, EIA/TIA, NEC, and other applicable telecommunications standards. Proficiency in Revit with experience producing and coordinating low-voltage design documentation. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
Work Environment We embrace a hybrid model that promotes both autonomy and collaboration, including the freedom to work from home, with regular in-office days to connect with teammates and build culture. The office is a professional, open-space environment for collaborative and independent work.
Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
