Duties Help The purpose of this position is to function as a technical specialist on issues reling to the wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) systems and their integrion in the network. The work involves network administrion, optimizion and performance in support of the supports the ste's wide area command and control integred network.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • -Performs a variety of network device configurion and connectivity tasks.
  • -Executes procedures and coordines corrective action to optimize network performance. Installs, configures and monitors tested and evalued software packages th provide performance measurements of the WAN/LAN.
  • -Implements the standard configurion software loads for all network devices. Utilizes benchmarks and performance measurement and evaluion da to manage network servers and da communicion devices to support normal and surge workload. Works with technical support personnel in resolving critical problems.
  • -Uses remote management software tools to maintain and upde configurion, protocol and user/system files.
  • -Documents and tracks change to configurion, protocol and user/system files.
  • -Executes approprie action to ensure backup processes are completed.
  • -Evalues the performance of network devices such as servers, workstions, and peripheral devices, and remote access systems.
  • -Coordines the development and implemention of configurion management plans for complex LANs and WANs with supported elements to include headquarters staff elements, tenant activities, ste government, regional opering activities and nional agencies.
  • -Implements plans and procedures for remote installion of applicions and upgrades using ste of the art software distribution methods.
  • -Monitors distribution of applicions and upgrades ensuring compliance with regulions and copyright laws.
  • -Implements procedures to ensure accure records of authorized users of distributed software are maintained.
  • -Implements the standard opering procedures for all devices on the network.
  • -Reviews and evalues proposed software. Provides input to briefings and presentions on the complexities of the installion networks. These briefings provide the basis for long-range decision planning reling to C4 network project management.
  • -Analyzes equipment and software reliability and utilizion reports to identify and define problem areas and to establish end-to-end systems performance levels.

Experience, educion, and/or training th has provided a basic knowledge of da processing functions and general management principles th enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to autome a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operor or assistant, computer sales representive, program analyst, or other positions th required the use or adaption of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have one year of specialized experience the GS-09 level or equivalent. Experience includes experience, educion, or training th approaches techniques and requirements approprie to an assigned computer applicions area or computer specialty area in an organizion. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordinion with others outside the organizional unit and development of project controls. Experience th required adaptions of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documention on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the merial and organizing it in a logical fashion. It is not necessary for applicants to possess the
