Helpdesk Technician Position Overview:
Remote, in-shop, and on-site troubleshooting, repair, configuration, and installation of notebook, desktop, and server computer hardware, software, wired and wireless networking equipment, and cloud services. This position can be a hybrid-work position after training period as most work can be performed remotely. In-office requirements after training are two weeks in office, two weeks work from home (if desired). Typical working hours are 8-5, M-F with rotating on-call support.
Education:
College-level training, CompTIA A+ certification(s), Microsoft certification(s), or one or more years of equivalent experience.
Requirements:
Very strong computer hardware, software, and network device troubleshooting abilities -- especially remotely. Ability to accurately diagnose and solve problems remotely, in-shop, or at client site with minimal guidance or alone by using tools available such as knowledge bases, FAQ's, Internet research, etc. as needed. Strong understanding of wired and wireless small business IP networks and networking devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, modems, print servers, etc. Strong understanding of Windows desktop and server operating systems, virtual machines, and applications including user configuration, file and printer sharing, Active Directory, and services normally provided by servers such as DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, accounting packages, antivirus, and other typical line-of-business on-premise and cloud-based applications - especially Microsoft 365. Must have own vehicle and valid driver's license for travel to office and for occasional reimbursed travel to and from client sites. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks as needed. Excellent communication with coworkers and the users of computer equipment in both verbal and written form. Must create new or update existing documentation regularly. Other IT-related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit for long periods, stand, type, walk, hear, and see. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
