Job Description
The IT Technician will work to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all IT systems and networks within the hospital. This role is essential to ensuring the reliability and security of critical healthcare systems, including electronic health records (EHR), medical equipment integrations, communication systems, and general IT infrastructure. The IT Technician will provide on-site support to hospital staff and work closely with the Network Administrator to address any technical issues promptly and effectively. This full-time benefits eligible position will work on-site Monday through Friday at our Hospital with occasional remote troubleshooting calls with staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Network & System Support:
Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, printers, and other IT hardware. Assist with managing hospital networks, ensuring connectivity, security, and performance. Monitor and troubleshoot network and system issues, ensuring minimal downtime. Assist in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) regarding data security and privacy.User Support:
Provide technical support for end users, addressing hardware, software, and network-related issues. This will include assisting external remote users. Assist in the setup and training of staff on hospital IT systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other healthcare software applications. Respond to service requests promptly and document actions taken to resolve issues.Security & Compliance:
Implement and monitor IT security measures to protect patient data and hospital systems. Ensure regular data backups and system updates to avoid data loss or security breaches. Collaborate with IT leadership to ensure the hospital meets regulatory requirements, including HIPAA compliance and system audits.Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform regular maintenance on hospital hardware and software systems, ensuring they are functioning at optimal levels. Diagnose and resolve issues with workstations, printers, and other IT equipment. Track and report IT equipment malfunctions, ensuring repairs or replacements are handled quickly to minimize disruption to hospital operations.Project Support:
Assist with the installation of new technology systems or upgrades, working in collaboration with the IT team and vendors. Participate in projects for improving hospital IT systems and workflows, ensuring that technology solutions align with patient care goals.Documentation:
Maintain an accurate inventory of hospital IT equipment and software. Document all technical support activities, system configurations, and troubleshooting actions for future reference. Maintain user manuals, system guides, and training documentation as needed.Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor's preferred). Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), etc.) preferred. Previous experience (1-3 years) working in an IT support role, ideally in a healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software and operating systems installs, networking, IT troubleshooting techniques, firewall security and cloud computing. Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office 365 Business Admin. Familiarity with healthcare-specific IT systems (e.g., EHR, PACS) and HIPAA compliance is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to 40 lbs). Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing technical tasks.Working Conditions:
This position may require occasional on-call hours or weekend work depending on hospital needs. Work will primarily take place on-site, with occasional travel to other hospital owned facilities if needed.Similar remote jobs
