Process Support Engineer Job Description The Process Support Engineer manages and enters detailed tool design and process data, supports PFMEA and G-Risk activities, and coordinates closely with customers and suppliers to ensure accurate risk assessments, robust process controls, and complete documentation. This contract role focuses on structured data management, safety and tooling risk analysis, and cross-functional collaboration using specialized software tools. Responsibilities Manage and perform heavy data entry of tool design information into provided Excel spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all records. Coordinate with suppliers to gather and verify spare part lists and related tooling information, and integrate this data into the appropriate systems and documents. Reference bubble charts and system layouts to understand the process flow and tooling configuration for each part load and process step. Create system elements for each process step, including welding, adhesive application, robot load/unload, date scribe, hemming, and induction cure, within the PFMEA framework. Collect and document information on part detections on tools within the process zone as well as in Final Line and General Assembly, ensuring correct linkage to PFMEA elements. Apply the correct PFMEA templates to each system element and review template questions to identify potential effects of failure and relevant process control detections from the library. Coordinate with the customer to schedule and prepare for Technical Review Meetings and Cross Functional Review Meetings related to PFMEA activities. Create and send meeting invitations for PFMEA-related reviews, ensuring all required stakeholders are included and informed. Lead and facilitate PFMEA review meetings, presenting the process, discussing detections, and capturing feedback and decisions. Record meeting dates, attendance, and outcomes within theFEMA FIT
program, maintaining complete and traceable PFMEA documentation. Create validation check sheets for PFMEA-related activities and attach all supporting documentation within theFEMA FIT
program. Collaborate with the customer to obtain specific numerical values assigned to each task for G-Risk assessments. Reference system layouts to develop G-Risk assessments by cell, ensuring each cell and task is appropriately represented. Create G-Risk assessments by importing Legacy Risk Assessments that involve similar tooling and adapting them to the current project. Enter detailed assessment information into the G-Risk software, ensuring each task has all observations completed with accurate and relevant data. Select tasks on the Assessment Creation sheet and complete assessments related to risk reductions, mitigations, controls, and safety FMEA requirements. Communicate and coordinate with the customer Program Manager to plan and schedule G-Risk meetings, including preparation of materials and summaries. Prepare and submit G-Risk summaries, consolidating key findings, risk levels, and recommended mitigations for review and approval. Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on tooling, safety, and risk management activities throughout the contract. Essential Skills Proven experience in data management and data entry, particularly with technical or engineering information. Hands-on experience performing PFMEA usingFEMA FIT
software, including creating system elements, applying templates, and documenting controls and effects of failure. Experience working within GM Power Supply or similar environments using G-Risk software for safety and tooling risk assessments. Knowledge of part detections on tools within production zones, Final Line, and General Assembly. Knowledge of tooling and safety concepts, including familiarity with master equipment tool lists and related documentation (METL). Ability to interpret bubble charts and system layouts to understand process flows and tooling configurations. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering and managing data in spreadsheets and specialized software tools. Effective communication skills to coordinate with customers, suppliers, and program managers and to lead technical and cross-functional review meetings. Ability to organize and document meetings, including creating invitations, recording attendance, and maintaining records in PFMEA and G-Risk systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications METL (Master Equipment Tool List) experience is highly desirable. Familiarity with safety FMEA concepts and risk reduction, mitigation, and control strategies. Experience working with automotive or industrial tooling environments is an advantage. Comfort working in both onsite and remote settings while maintaining clear communication and documentation. Work Environment The role operates in a hybrid work environment, with 2-3 days per week spent onsite at a customer location on the east side of Michigan and the remaining days worked remotely. Onsite work involves close interaction with customer teams, exposure to production or tooling areas, and collaboration on PFMEA and G-Risk activities using system layouts, bubble charts, and tooling documentation. The position requires regular use of Excel spreadsheets, FEMA FIT software for PFMEA, and G-Risk software for risk assessments. The environment emphasizes safety, structured processes, and thorough documentation, with a professional setting that supports focused analytical work and frequent coordination with suppliers, program managers, and cross-functional stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bridgman, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr.
