Cybersecurity Engineer/IT Security Specialist for a 12 months contract with a client in Pennington, NJ/Charlotte, NC/Day-1 Onsite (Hybrid-3 days office 2 days Remote) .

The IT Security Specialist is responsible for protecting the organization s information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role involves monitoring security systems, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security measures, and responding to incidents to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of enterprise systems. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, and events to detect suspicious activity Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts Implement and maintain security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection Respond to and investigate security incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, NIST, PCI, GDPR) Perform regular risk assessments and recommend improvements to strengthen security posture Support access management, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and periodic access reviews Collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure secure system design and implementations Develop and maintain security documentation, procedures, and incident response plans Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field 3-5+ years of experience in IT security or related roles Strong understanding of network security, operating systems, and security frameworks Experience with security tools (SIEM, antivirus, EDR, vulnerability scanners) Knowledge of threat detection, incident response, and risk management practices Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) is a plus Desired Qualifications Analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and handle security incidents Excellent communication and documentation skills Knowledge of scripting (Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
