Job Description

The Software ITD Support Specialist provides technical support and software management for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and related medical applications within Health Services and Campus Pharmacy. This position ensures optimal performance of clinical software systems, supports users, enhances workflows, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain efficient and secure healthcare technology operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Customer Support & User Assistance Provides professional, courteous, and prompt customer service to all PNC and PioneerRX users. Responds to and resolves staff questions regarding technology that supports clinical and administrative operations. Analyzes end-user problems, determines root cause, and implements corrective actions. Communicates frequently and effectively with users to ensure timely resolution of issues. Trains and assists users in Microsoft applications, medical software modules, and other specialized systems (e.g., CBC, X-ray software). Learns and performs basic operational functions within various medical software modules. EHR & Medical Software Support Provides comprehensive support for PNC, PioneerRX, and other specialized medical software applications. Supports networked software systems for clinicians and staff, including troubleshooting applications and workflow optimization. Performs IT functions within medical software including: Creating and editing RFT printing forms Developing clinical XML templates Designing custom and specialized reports Supports and maintains web-based patient portals. Pulls clinical and demographic data for internal analytics and reporting. Generates detailed reports using querying languages (SQL preferred) and documents report-generation processes for repeatability and compliance. Monitors medical system health and responds to alerts, upgrades, and system changes. Performs minor software installations and supports system upgrades and substitutions. Systems Management & Documentation Maintains IT hardware and software databases with a high degree of accuracy. Monitors system upgrades, changes, and vendor modifications. Develops, maintains, and documents departmental IT policies and procedures. Ensures IT tasks are performed in accordance with established policies and regulatory standards. Workflow Analysis & Technology Solutions Gathers and analyzes user requirements through meetings, workflow analysis, and clinical/business process review. Designs and implements technology solutions to improve clinical efficiency and operational effectiveness. Attends unit meetings to maintain understanding of clinical and administrative workflows. Partners with peer Software Business Analyst to coordinate support activities and maintain consistency in service delivery. Collaboration & External Coordination Coordinates with campus IT departments and technology centers. Communicates and collaborates with external vendors and contractors providing hardware and software solutions. Works with electronic health record vendors and university technology offices to develop and implement solutions. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of SQL and HTML. Understanding of EHR systems and healthcare IT environments preferred. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Ability to document technical processes clearly and accurately. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of clinical workflows and healthcare operations preferred. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field preferred. Experience supporting EHR systems or healthcare software is strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
