Job Description

Sumter County is Currently Seeking an I.T. Specialist.
Starting Salary:
$47,000 - $55,000.
Examples of Work Performed:
Provide PC hardware, software and mobile device support to end users on the Sumter County network. Identify computer-related problems; troubleshoot hardware problems; research and implement potential solutions. Support the county's warranty and non-warranty computer and printer repair work; and assist with assigned project tasks. Ensure compliance with standards for systems software and documentation. Document all user contact, service request, and problem resolutions. Train end users how to use PC related software and hardware. Implement software patches, security fixes, tests and validate modified system configurations. Install and configure PC hardware, software and peripherals. Assist with major deployments of hardware and software. Monitors system reliability and availability. Attend staff meetings. Complete mandatory training classes and other classes as assigned. Travel daily between sites to accomplish tasks. Perform preventive maintenance on hardware and software packages to include client and server platforms. Train new staff members on how to troubleshoot problems, set up and install network-related hardware, software and other peripherals. Perform other duties as required. Reports to the Director of Information Technology.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
General working knowledge of infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications utilized in the County. Experience with ticketing systems and department operating procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft products including operating systems and Office. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 email and standard Suite of products. Knowledge of Android and Apple devices including iOS and MacOS with Mobile Device Management. Knowledge of Audio\Video, A\V over IP and Voice over IP phone systems. Computer hardware configuration and repair knowledge. Knowledge of Ethernet network topology to assist with troubleshooting network issues. Knowledge of IT infrastructure industry standards and best practices. Advanced troubleshooting skills. Problem definition and alternative analysis skills. Experience with Active Directory, Windows 10, Windows 11. Strong customer service skills, excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with ability to adjust message to audience. Knowledge of Apple devices including iOS and MacOS. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent self-organization and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively in teams and across organizations. Ability to synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly. Ability to develop and write technical documentation. Ability to evaluate and test emerging technologies. Ability to apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met. Candidate will be working in a professional environment and will be held to a dress code standard. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires an Associate's degree in computer technology supplemented by two years of experience in network operations, data processing or computer maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
