Job Description

The purpose of this job is to provide technical support in a team environment with continual supervision involving installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and user training for district computer systems, including hardware, software and peripheral equipment. This position is an entry level position. Responsibilities Employees in this position work under the direction of a team leader to learn HCDE procedures for providing support to the schools. Work will be continually monitored with frequent guidance provided by the team leader. Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times. Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools and other stakeholders. Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Installs and sets up computer systems, peripherals and software. Delivers, moves and/or sets up equipment in schools/departments. Installs computer hardware, printers, sound card, routers, surge protectors, or other components. Troubleshoots, analyzes, diagnoses and works to resolve/repair problems involving hardware, software, peripheral or network problems. Monitors/tests equipment operations. Identifies data errors, line failures, communication interruptions and equipment malfunctions; initiates appropriate action to correct errors, recover data and obtain maintenance. Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas and/or work areas are safe. Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff. Attends work regularly and arrives to work on time. Maintains confidentiality. Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics. Picks up damage/malfunctioning equipment and coordinates shipment to manufacturer as appropriate. Researches cost of repairs or replacement of computers, peripherals or components. Assists in inventory/asset management. May assist with helpdesk calls. Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary or as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge/Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in computer hardware/software operations required. One (1) year previous experience and/or training involving computer hardware maintenance preferred. Basic working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft and Apple preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Skills/Qualifications:
Operates a motor vehicle to conduct site visits, perform repair/maintenance work, pick up or deliver computer components, or perform other work activities. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver's license. Demonstrates sufficient manual dexterity to operate machinery, equipment, and tools.
Compensation:
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
Grade D Salary Scale Qualifications:
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in computer hardware/software operations required. One (1) year previous experience and/or training involving computer hardware maintenance preferred. Basic working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft and Apple preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
