The IT Support Technician provides front-line technical support to staff by assisting with hardware, software, and basic network-related issues in standalone, networked, and cloud-based environments. This role is responsible for setting up and maintaining technology equipment, resetting passwords, troubleshooting common technology problems, and providing end-user training on software and hardware systems. The position works under the general supervision of the IT Manager, exercising sound judgment in resolving routine technical issues and escalating more complex matters as appropriate.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Provides technical support, operational assistance, and troubleshooting to staff to ensure effective use of hardware, software, and technology systems. Delivers one-on-one and group training to employees on software applications, hardware devices, cybersecurity awareness, and technology best practices. Sets up, configures, installs, and deploys desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors, mobile devices, and other technology equipment. Installs, updates, and maintains operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices. Resets passwords, manages user accounts, and assists with access and authentication issues. Responds to and documents technology support requests, resolving issues or escalating them as appropriate. Assists with onboarding and offboarding activities, including account setup, equipment deployment, and technology orientation. Provides support for conference room technology, audiovisual equipment, and virtual meeting platforms. Coordinates with the IT Manager and external Managed Services Provider (MSP) regarding routine support issues, maintenance activities, and technology projects. Assists in maintaining network-connected devices and cloud-based applications. Supports cybersecurity efforts by following security procedures, assisting with user access management, and promoting safe technology practices. May assist with testing, implementing, and documenting new hardware, software, and technology solutions. Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational technology needs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices. Basic understanding of network concepts, cloud-based applications, and cybersecurity best practices. Ability to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, and related equipment. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications. Ability to manage user accounts, reset passwords, and support access-related issues. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to train users and explain technical concepts in a clear, understandable manner. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate records, documentation, and inventory information. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and respond effectively to changing technology needs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, vendors, and external service providers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information. Ability to learn new technologies, software applications, and business processes. Ability to perform all job duties while maintaining high ethical and professional standards and effectively serving individuals from diverse backgrounds.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
Valid Texas drivers license with driving record acceptable to the agency and insurance carrier. Ability to travel occasionally between work sites using personal transportation and/or rental vehicles. CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or other relevant technology certifications are preferred but not required
