Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-pressure situations, has a strong technical background in both Windows and Mac environments, and is passionate about resolving technology issues efficiently and professionally. As the primary liaison between support areas and other technology teams, you'll play a key role in troubleshooting technical problems, supporting end users, and ensuring seamless desktop/laptop operations across the organization. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Windows and Mac desktops/laptops, including network connectivity. Respond to incident alerts and escalations, taking ownership of issue resolution and ensuring timely follow-up. Provide operating system support and updates for both Mac and Windows platforms. Configure and administer Mac OS X Server and related Apple applications and tools. Document troubleshooting steps and solutions in the Help Desk system for knowledge base development. Install, configure, and update antivirus, VPN, RESCUE software, and other required applications. Remediate virus infections and distribute clean-up kits with user documentation as needed. Assist with IT support communications (notices, alerts, instructions) and user guidance. Provide hands-on support during office moves (e.g., disconnect/reconnect peripherals and desktops). Support virtual environments (e.g., Mac in Windows XP, virtual desktops with Office 2007/2010). Qualifications & Skills Proven experience troubleshooting both Mac and Windows environments. Strong customer service orientation with a professional, empathetic, and urgent approach to user support. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English required). Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure. Self-motivated and proactive team player with strong organizational skills. Experience with ticketing/request systems (knowledge of CA USD preferred). Familiarity with IT infrastructure and end-user support best practices. Ability to quickly learn and support custom client applications. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Standard office environment with occasional on-site tasks (e.g., office moves). May require standing and walking up to 10% of the time. Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds. Frequent use of hands for typing and handling office equipment. Must maintain focus and composure in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
